Given the org is competing now it is nice to see prospects that are more pro ready getting into the organization. A couple of years on the Marlies and he might be a useful depth piece that provides cheap ELC value.

Yep.

Jacob Quillan, Forward, Quinnipiac

Some players are programmed to play the game a certain way. Quillan is one of those players.

The six-foot, 201-pound, left-shot forward is used in all situations at Quinnipiac, and his relentless compete is evident on a nightly basis. He’s producing offence (nine goals, 12 assists), but it’s his three-zone detail and willingness to battle in the hard areas of the ice that stand out for me.

Quillan plays the game quick and he has excellent hand-eye coordination. When he sets up shop in the crease area, he has the ability to tip pucks from range, or corral rebounds and deposit pucks in the back of net.

Quillan has skated in 92 college games, when he is an incredible plus-53.

Here’s an example of how relentless Quillan plays, on and off the puck:

NHL Projection: Potential third-line forward who can be used in a variety of roles

Only suckers need draft picks.

When you're as good at scouting as the Leafs you don't need many. They can afford to give away picks in bad trades. Because ALL their prospects are gonna hit.

Including this guy I'm sure.

I don't think there's any doubt Quillan is a good prospect. I mean, let's face it, if you're being scouted by the NHL you're obviously a good young hockey player. Whether you're good enough is a different question altogether.

So here's hoping Quillan is a huge success.

The Leafs are gonna need all the cheap help they can get. Running a Studs'n'Duds roster necessarily means hitting on a "hidden gem". Someone who can contribute over and above their salary.

God knows the team isn't drafting anyone like that.

Is he likely to be a C or winger professionally? Has he been a C in college?

Thanks for the link

Have not been following NCAA much

I Don't remember how high profile a signing Trevor Moore was?

is his potential higher than Moore when we signed him?

It was actually Trevor Moore

We brought him from NCAA, developed him in the AHL and he played start of his career here

Had to move him as we needed a goalie back in 2019/2020

Moore is a top 6 player now for the Kings
Oh gawd. How could I forget him?
Old age i tells ya.

He's free so does not matter what happens. He could end up just playing for Marlies and that's it. Who knows but at least cost is nice 🙂.

Next up, Elias Lindholm.
Don't see leafs signing him unless he takes a big discount which don't see why he would

He looks like at minimum a good 3rd or 4th liner in a few years with his work ethic and 200f play and cost nothing so huge bonus. Leafs need to look for more like this with not alot if picks in next few drafts

Marlies and Growlers still need to ice teams. This is a good signing. Maybe down the road he may get NHL tea who knows

For now, we will have few players leaving Marlies end of year. Need to constantly keep filling in the cup

Graf wants to stay in the North East. He's not Canadian like Quillan though so seems unlikely we're high on his list.

It would be cool to add both top free agent forwards though. It would make up for the lack of mid round picks.
Exactly.

With the very significant lack of picks in the past, present and future the Leafs badly need signings like this to give them a chance of replacing depth as players price themselves out of this roster.
