It is kind of amazing how much better Larsson is now he isn't an Oiler.

I think with most defensive only defesemen they get better with age and experience. Because they play such a simple game those nuances and tricks take time to learn (see Luke Schenn) since they're less dependent on pure skill than guys ljke Makar and Quinn, but moreso on knowledge and knowing where to be in all sorts of situations.

That's why vet defenseman, even unskilled ones like Edmundson, are always coveted by teams for the playoffs to provide stability. Put that knowledge in the body of someone like Larsson who can also skate and has some skill to move the puck and you have a valuable commodity.

I think that's a large reason he's better now than he was with the Devils or Oilers, but also because of system.
