Confirmed with Link: Leafs sign F Ryan Reaves (3 years, $1.3M AAV)

How dare you diminish the importance of us getting someone that helps take this assortment of individuals with no character and turning it into a team with character and identity. 50 more pages is warranted.

:)
Think you misunderstood, when I said 51 pages, it was meant to be like ‘what only 51pagea, it should be 1000…’

😂

Only in Toronto does a 4th line player get argued over so much. We did the same thing with Matt Martin.

Every other fanbase had no issues with Ryan Reaves playing for their team. The islanders still have no issues with Matt Martin on their team. Tampa fans had no issues with Pat Maroon, heck now the Wild fans love him too

Like who cares? Stop being so whiny. Enjoy a physical player like Reaves and the entertainment he brings. Not everything has to be corsi corsi corsi.

If Tampa and St.Louis can win multiple cups with Pat Maroon's fat ass, I'm sure we'll be ok with Ryan Reaves

It's funny the building is alive and we are 2 and 0 to Stat the season.
Mathews 2 hat tricks
Willy is cooking
Reeves 2 fights and big hits

The most exciting 2 games in a long long time

Of course he can play 4th line winger. He's done it before, and he can in fact do it better than Reaves. But they decided to sign a worse, older, more expensive player signed until he's 40 and trade Lafferty instead.
No, they decided to sign a younger cheaper winger in Gregor. It is Reaves that is older, but he was signed for a specific role one that he is considered the best in the NHL by his peers.

IMHO it was a ok signing.....we have been down this road before trying to add some toughness.

The 4th line has been a liability so far. IMHO.

It is what it is. I dont see much difference from Simmonds being here last year. Maybe the intagiables are better in the locker room

But the success in the playoffs will come down to ....refs and how they call the game compared to regular season.......our star players.....and of course the most important....our goalie.

As we have seen....the team is great in regular season....top team now for years. The game is called differently like no other sport in the playoffs.

If we dont win the cup this year....was signing Bert and Domi and Reeves a failure again? Back to renting players on 1 yr deals again? Will Reeves be looked upon differently if we fail?

Or will we be happy if Reeves beats up a few....but is a minus player and we still lost the series?

The regular season will be another blast and it will again be great to see our stars have great success and watching Knies and Mitten mature
I am absolutely dumbfounded by the bolded and those who see it this way. Not even close imo. Reaves has done more and had more impact on teammates and fans in 2 games than Simmonds did all last year and most of the year before. We finally have someone who can hit like a mack truck and put fear into the opposition....Praise Be. I for one have been pleasantly surprised so far.

The new vibe around this team has me excited to watch. Whatever happens down the line, we shall see but to already be looking for negatives and projecting failure doesnt sound like a fun time. I for one am enjoying the product on the ice at the moment which I wasnt really sure I was going to so Im gonna roll with that until proven otherwise.

They signed Gregor as well, and they could have had both Gregor and Lafferty on the team, but they decided to sign a worse, older player until he's 40, give him Lafferty's money (and then some), hand him Lafferty's 4th line winger spot, and trade Lafferty instead. And no, Reaves is not even close to one of the best 4th line wingers in the league. He's closer to the opposite.

Most of these folks are in denial but don't worry it'll hit them soon enough.

Kinda depressing but unfortunately he was one of the better players again tonight. That can’t continue to be the case. Others need to surpass him.
For sure. I was really impressed by how the big guy went behind the other team's net, hung on to the puck for a split second...then a much smaller dman came and pinned him against the boards to then steal the puck...Very impressive.

For sure, I'd much rather pay someone 10 mil more to do that and even throw in some dumb passes to the other team too.

Just a waste of money, which was obvious at the time of the signing. 4th line getting destroyed in their minutes.
I'm starting to think that this is by design...meaning, they don't care about someone who can actually play hockey but needed someone to protect the weak boys we have...Otherwise it makes no sense to get rid of a guy like Simmonds who looked way more competent playing hockey(especially if you put him on the 4th line)...He backchecked hard too, worked well down low, got chances(just no finish), etc...So why? Maybe Simmonds said hell i ain't going to be fighting..lol...But i doubt it because he actually seemed like he cared about this team....Who knows though...It's clear that Reaves isn't here for his hockey ability but that is horrible because we already have enough guys who are playing like pylons.

You talking about Mitchie? The guy who led the team in points last year and often enough is one of the better players on this team? Really? lol...He was shit tonight but that whole line was.

If you think Reaves was the problem tonight you need your head examined. However, I was disappointed he didn’t pound that rat Perry. It is his job after all.
Had a scan yesterday. Doc said all good. :)

He's been shit all season. I'll make sure y'all know about it every game too since y'all never shut up about the 4th line these days.

If you think Reaves was signed for his on-ice abilities, you are missing the point.

They can just play Clifford for that for way less, if that's what they wanted.

These days? lol...I am pretty much never here(haven't been since last year where i posted a few times the whole year) and really don't complain about 4th line but ok.

I think the Leafs will also be playing Reaves in the playoffs this year as well. I honestly don't think they got him for just the regular season like I hear some people saying im the media, etc.

Oh do tell me the point please. What exactly did they get him for when they have a bunch of others who can fight, hit and whatever he can do? Is he there to beat everyone up on the other team? Uplift the team? Doesn't seem to be working and i'll bet you anything it won't because that's not the issue here...These guys need to find those things inside them and nobody else will be able to provide that for them except maybe in a few games here and there(overall meaningless).
