Do we want to trade Mitts now or we keep him at 3C?

If we trade him we have no middle 6 center for next year unless we keep Nelson. Now that Ritchie is gone we have no one possibly coming up either.
Keep Mittelstadt and have good center depth. Keeping Mittelstadt also ensures we have a 2C next year if Nelson walks. A summer of exercise should do Mittelstadt some good to come back more prepared next year.

Agreed on this, but we need a another RD over a depth forward I believe.
Why not both?

This photo reminds me of the lad who's on Cobra Kai that only talks about getting into MIT and then somehow gets that hot Mean Girls girlfriend, who has no business of getting.

Not disagreeing, but if Devils would somehow do Mittelstadt+ for Nemec, you gotta take it.

Soft hands, zero strength,
Mittelstadt strains, arms trembling—
Bar stays firm above.

Watched the game highlights first and the woman announcer was speaking something about Nelson.. could it be? f*** yes!

Hate losing Ritchie, but it is what it is. I wonder if they chose Mitts over Ritchie or if there was just no interest in Mitts from the other side.

Why do you hate it though? What do you think he can become if he was still on this team? 60 point player next yr? year after? year after that?

mitts is def gone
They can't trade Mittelstadt until they know whether or not Nelson will re-sign. Otherwise they'll be left with nobody at 2C next year.

Speaking of which. NYI apparently offered Nelson a 3 year deal, but he wanted 4/5. In the Avs position 4 years would probably be fine at a reasonable caphit. The last year or two would probably be bad but the first two years are the most important for the window anyhow.

Avs fans: "We need to be all-in. Have to get a 2C at any cost."

CMac lands literally the #1 center on the market without giving up anything from the pro roster.

Also Avs fans: "That's too much! WTF overpayment!"
We're spoiled by Cmac and Sakic working their magic and getting good players for nothing.

I think now they look at Kadri and think 4-5 year deal is fine. As long as you can buy him out at some point or throw him to Robidas island if needed.

It is just four games, 100% accurate, but it is a pretty big tournament not only for yourself internally, but also to compare yourself against the best of the league. It's not a "random sample size" brethren. The Stanley Cup playoffs, especially going in the deeper rounds, is more of the best of and he didn't stand up to the test.

I am not against acquiring him, I am against paying this much for a player who is at best, above-average. He is closer to Mittelstadt in terms of performance on the ice than he is to Lehkonen.
He has 24 goals and 43 points in his last 60 playoff games (33 goal and 59 point pace over 82 games), suggesting that he does fine in big games against top teams.

Well, if you read HFWild, Brock is coming home this offseason. They really are the USA version of Toronto, where all their fans think that their local-born players will eventually return back to the motherland lol.

They'll dream about Brock Nelson coming home and end up with Ben Meyers

With the rise of offence and penalty calls throughout, 43 points in 60 playoff games isn't exactly a stellar stat line for a top 6 player IMHO. Granted, some or most of that could have been from how the Islanders played in the postseason under Trotz.

This sounds like the beginning of an erotic fan fiction...
