Solid lineup.

Only thing is... will he really be in the lineup come playoffs?

Not saying he couldn't be but having someone playing all season and being dropped for a guy just signed at the end of the season is a tough pill to take.

He better be unreal the next 3 games and even then it's probably for an injury.

I'm pumped about Knies. I am just being cautious about what will happen there.
This was just "my next 3 games" lineup. May as well give the kid prime minutes to see what the kid can do - since the Leafs are locked into position - and to maybe give players in the top-6 a night off too. Jarnkrok is banged up.

I don't know if he will play in the playoffs, but the Leafs have 3 meaningless games where they can get him used to his teammates and vice versa.....

I expect he'll play in every remaining regular season game. But I don't think he'll be on the playoff roster in game 1, unless there's an injury.

The painfully obvious for months occurred, what a shocker.

Looking forward to seeing him, not putting any expectations on the kid.
Watching him Saturday, I thought his game needs a lot of work in order to play at the NHL level. I suppose I could be wrong?
Were some people seriously thinking he wouldn't sign lmao?
Worse some people think he's going to play right away on the top line, totally unrealistic expectations imo. He could develop into a top 6 guy in time, he'll have to develop a quicker first step and get used to skating rather than gliding into spots, and be a lot more aggressive on board battles and puck retrieval.

He’ll get his $92.5K signing bonus plus a regular NHL pay cheque for abut 5/186 of $832.5K. $92.5K is the largest signing bonus an ELC player can get (10%). And players only get pad for days that they are on the NHL roster which, in Knies’s case, will be 5 of 186 days.
Not to mention the possible juicy alumni money some of these guys get

He wasn’t very impressive at camp this year either, I think we need to be cautious, he’s a bonus.

I'd like to see him play one game with Tavares and Nylander, one game on the third line with ROR, and then one game move ROR up and stack the to six, and see what Knies looks like in a truer bottom six role.

For the playoffs, too early to say where (or even if) he plays. Gotta see him play three games and make a gut call.

Stylistic complementaries aside, I think O'Reilly's mentality is something Knies needs to be plugged into and saturated with for as long as we have ROR; The benefits of his influence on a promising rookie coming into this franchise at this time should be self-evident. And I think doing the same for Nylander might give him a shot in the arm, to say: Drive the line with the Conn Smythe winner, Bill. Let's go big boy!

I'd pencil in this line as absolute, injuries notwithstanding:

Knies-ROR-Nylander

No one knows. Can't know, as it is a future event.

However, we've heard it be said by some players who move from the AHL to the NHL, is that is is sometimes easier because in the NHL everyone knows (is supposed to know) their job and things are less scrambly.

Last summer in the prospects scrimmages he didn't look so good, but again it comes back to players know what their job is and being capable of doing it. In those scrimmages, no one really knew what the heck their job was, who their linemates where, or what the system was. It's not exactly where you want to evaluate support players.

I'd say if little smurf, onbackside, Robertson can play some NHL games then I don't see why Knies can't, especially with a team loaded with veterans. We aren't talking an up and coming roster of NHLers, they're veterans.

Throwing a rookie into a veteran laden team isn't crazy or outrageous!

ROR is the perfect mentor for Knies!

People penciling him into the first line are going to be disappointed.

I guess it's possible they try him there in these regular season games but I'd bet against it.
The remaining games are meaningless. Keefe might as well play him in the top 6 and see how he responds.

We should be resting as many regulars as possible anyway.

Does he get all 925K???

I thought it would be his signing bonus [92.5K] + 3 games of pay [~30K]
My post was tongue in cheek. It's unlikely he gets it in one fell swoop.

What I was commenting on is how surreal that would be: just finish school and already be positioned to make more money than most would make in 10-15 years of working, while digging one's way out of tens of thousands of dollars of student debt.......

Exactly. See what he can do right now with talent. If he fits seamlessly, then you have more options. If he really struggles, then he can watch and learn about how to play at the NHL level from the press box and practices.

even with ROR at center that line makes me nervous defensively. The other 2 lines should theoretically be drawing more offensive zone starts. I like Knies/ROR/Acciari personally. Could be very well rounded.

ROR or AcciarI. Certainly not Willy. Lol

Depends on what you're grooming him for?

Not saying Nylander is a role model ... he's not one of the teacher's pets ...

But I'm sure I've heard mention that he's (Knies) a great skater. Maybe not Tuch great, but someone who could keep up with Nylander.
