Knies - Matthews - Marner
Bunting - Tavares - Nylander
Kerfoot - O'Rielly - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - Kampf - Acciari

Solid lineup.

Only thing is... will he really be in the lineup come playoffs?

Not saying he couldn't be but having someone playing all season and being dropped for a guy just signed at the end of the season is a tough pill to take.

He better be unreal the next 3 games and even then it's probably for an injury.

I'm pumped about Knies. I am just being cautious about what will happen there.

We don't really have much to be cautious about. Either he plays incredible and proves he's worthy of a spot or he doesn't and we roll with the amazing lineup we already have, it's a win win situation.

Side note: imagine finishing university and having $925,000 in your bank account by the end of the week.........?

Damn!
He’ll get his $92.5K signing bonus plus a regular NHL pay cheque for abut 5/186 of $832.5K. $92.5K is the largest signing bonus an ELC player can get (10%). And players only get pad for days that they are on the NHL roster which, in Knies’s case, will be 5 of 186 days.

Hopefully everyone tampers the expectation for Knies, expect him to be a good player for us in the future, but to step in and take someone roster spot with 3 games left till the playoffs is unrealistic IMO.

Honestly I'm just excited to see how he looks. No one expects him to dominate right away, and in all likelihood he probably won't stick around in the full time lineup for the playoffs, and that's perfectly fine.

Nice to see him signed

I doubt he's going to be in the lineup come playoff time, (it's one hell of a big step up in class) but I'd like to see him paired with one of Matthews, Tavares or ROR and have a look at him with some talent before the playoffs start

If he's great he keeps on playing and if he's not get him to the Marlies for there playoff run

Either way I think it's going to be great for his development

Does anyone know how the 925k thing works? Didn't know it was even possible. Does this open the door to future prospects like bedard not getting paid f*** all to play on the yotes?

Or did we just give him a pretty easy to hit bonus
Signing bonus he gets paid I think 95k or so, no performance bonus and they will play him to burn a year of his contract

They don't allow me to make trades.
Nor should they! Mind you, no one here should be allowed!
I’d prolly trade him for a handful of magic beans

He will be played in the last three games. And probably put on the expanded playoff roster

I do not believe he can go to the Marlies this year. Someone else can confirm but I am almost positive I read that it is NHL only for this season. There is probably value in him sticking around with the big club in the scenario of making a run anyways though and he likely is next man in.

Especially on the top line…….unrealistic

First game try him on the first line since Jankrok is out. Get a sense of how he would do with talent.

Based on that either leave him there or try him on a third line with OReilly.

Marner/Matthews
Tavares/Nylander
OReilly/Knies

Would be some fun pairs to build around if he sticks. If not I like Tavares. OReilly. Nylander as the second line.

OReillyis some one who can teach him how to play the right way.
Knies OReilly Accuri

I think Kerfoot would actually fit better playing alongside Knies and O’Reilly. You need someone who can carry the puck into the o-zone and Kerfoot does a way better job at that than Acciari.

Jarnkrok - Matthews - Nylander
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Knies - O’Reilly - Kerfoot

Real solid and balanced top nine.

I agree, the one thing you can’t really knock Kerfoot for is he’s got wheels and can get the puck up the ice. On the other hand, that line could be an absolute pain in the ass to play against with Acciari. Knies is a big boy and likes to play physical. He might even ramp that up to 11 if he’s playing lower in the lineup than he did in college.

Be nice to see how he fits in at practice.
See how well schooled he is with regards to the Leafs system.
Hopefully, if he gets into the line-up he looks like he belongs.
Always good to have depth with potential.
