Another good game from this guy with no mistakes.

He has that Hainsey playing style where he's doesn't look like he's moving that fast but hes always in good position, makes smart low risk decisions with the puck and has a long reach.

He's starting to look like a real quality #6/#7 and he's still only 25 so maybe management actually found something here.
I like the fact that he is not tiny and a puck mover who cannot play defense. That is what we have drafting for several years and they never pan out. Look at Sandin for example...not good at anything really...but makes a few smart plays and everyone was in awe of him whilst forgetting he skates slower than Hainsey in his last season in the league.

Gio, Benoit, Lagesson,Timmins should be rotating for the 5/6 spots.

While Rielly, Brodie, McCabe, Liljegren take the top four.

Obviously they need upgrades with the top four.
If Tre is gonna make a splash it should be for a player like Hanifin. He is young, should be extend and be a part of the team for many successful runs. He has much needed size and if paired with a defensively responsible player like Liljegren he would be great.

Rielly Brodie
Hanifin Liljegren
McCabe Timmins
Gio/Benoit

Trade McCabe in the off-season and extend Benoit. Go after a player like Pesce to replace Brodie.

Nope keep mccabe he’s 2 mil per and sign pesce to replace brodie

Extend him now before he has a great year and be looking for 3 million
Benoit has been really solid. Hopefully they find a way to re-sign him rather letting him move on to bigger and better things like the Leafs used to do.

Good 3rd pairing defenceman who can also play on 2nd PK unit. Thankfully he’s an RFA after the season and he shouldn’t cost too much to re-sign. I’m expecting a 2 year, 1.5 million per.

I fall in the same boat but

do we fall in love with an undrafted plumber that is adequate as a bottom pairing guy.

The worst team in the league didn't want him.

Nice surprise and a solid bottom pairing option. What needs to improve is the top 4 and specifically a RHD.

I don’t think that playing on Anaheim previously has any relevance to him today. It was mentioned by many reporters that they were surprised he was not brought back by Anaheim.

He needs to gain some weight in order to play the type of game he likes to play at the NHL level IMO. If he can do that, we may have a Schenn replacement and an extremely solid young bottom pairing defensive defenceman that every team needs

The worst team in the league is probably the one most likely to make a dumb decision like not wanting a solid young bottom pairing defender for league minimum.

Every fanbase in every sport falls in love with their low-ceiling high-effort lunchpail players.

Maybe it's because we find them more relatable than the elite skill players?

He’s been very solid, but it’s important to not over hype him too. His puck handling and movement is well below average.

I like his toughness and willingness to drop the gloves. I think every D corps needs 2-3 guys that are willing to go.

Never heard of Arber Xhekaj? Half the league was swooning over him, and that plumber has spent a good chunk of his year in the AHL

Benoit is earning himself a raise for sure. Nice signing Treliving.

Too bad Treliving tainted this signing by also signing Klingberg.

That team stretched him beyond his means by playing him too much and too high in the lineup.
