Brodie has been great this year.
I don’t think there has been a worse overall player on our team than Brodie. He’s currently on pace for his highest ice time per game in the last 7 years, and he’s pacing to have his lowest offensive output ever, and the worst giveaway/takeaway ratio of his career.

He makes some really bad decisions. Look at overtime last game for instance. Shovels the puck to the front of the net, where 2 wild players are all alone. For absolutely no reason.

The forwards were out of position on that play.

So your argument is he’s playing more than ever but worse than ever? Nobody ever cared about his offence. Come on, worst player on the team, that’s such bs.

It’s the constant giveaways, inability to clear a puck, and inability to make an offensive pass or shot. He also looks completely inept on the PK.

I guess I should word it differently. Reaves is obviously the worst player on the team. But he gets 5 minutes of ice time when he does play.

He’s on the decline, and really shouldn’t be relied on so much. Let’s not forget this is a defence that has a 40 year old playing 20 minutes. I think he’s been okay this year, some bad games, and he’s not suited to clearing the net on a PK. Is he still useful in a 4-5 role, absolutely. We need to address the D, everyone gets that, Brodie is what he is.

I don't understand all that praise for Benoit. His positioning was beyond terrible during the Minnesota push in the first period. He was running around like a drunken moose after eating fermented apples.

Brodie isn’t as good as he was a couple of years ago but he still does a great job in a tough role. Him and Rielly have been lights out as a pairing this year.

For sure, if he was playing 18 mins a night it probably wouldn’t look so bad. Having Lilly and Timmins out hurts the D tremendously. Whereas Klingberg being injured has been fantastic for our defensive side. lol

Agreed. But you still have absolutely no reason to shovel that puck to the front of the net, from the corner.
Bad outcome no doubt but they make that blind play many times a game, forward just wasn't in position that time.

Love the Benoit and Lagesson signings.
Someone here was batching about these 2 players and I said they were depth signing what is there to bitch about.
In the playoffs one or both could be very important if injuries pop up again.

He's not a top 4 dman in the playoffs moving forward. He is only going to decline moving forward. Last playoffs were terrible for him.

What's going to happen with him and Gio is they're going to be overused so badly to get into the playoffs they'll be spent by the time the playoffs start.

Hes still a top 4 dman. Just more of a 3/4 than a 2/3. What they need is to bring in a top 4 to help ease his work load.

The #2 the Leafs need might just be a healthy Liljegren.

Somehow I think that if Liljegren were healthy and playing for another team, Leafs Nation would be clamoring to trade for him.

We need 2

Another good game from this guy with no mistakes.

He has that Hainsey playing style where he's doesn't look like he's moving that fast but hes always in good position, makes smart low risk decisions with the puck and has a long reach.

He's starting to look like a real quality #6/#7 and he's still only 25 so maybe management actually found something here.

Gio, Benoit, Lagesson,Timmins should be rotating for the 5/6 spots.

While Rielly, Brodie, McCabe, Liljegren take the top four.

Obviously they need upgrades with the top four.
