RW Matvei Michkov (2023, 7th, PHI) Part 6

I’ve never said anything about the Calder, I said Hutson doesn’t play defense which is true. Michkov is worth way more than Hutson though and will continue to be as their careers progress. Sorry if that’s hurting your feelings.
I noticed you ignored the fact that he's actually been one of the best defensemen defensively since the 4 Nations

Demidov's khl average ice time d+1 : 13:45
ppg : 0.753

Michkov's khl average ice time d+1 : 17:02
ppg: 0.872

Demidov spent more than half the season on the 4th line, playing very little pp minutes.
Michkov spent almost all the season on the 1st line, playing a shit ton more pp minutes.

On top of that, Demidov is very sound defensively.
Though this is true Demidov also spent a lot of his time with World class KHL players like Kuznetsov where as Michkov played with an awful surrounding cast.

Not so fast. Depending on who finishes top 6, they might avoid taking a C.
Buffalo took 3C in the first round in 22 plus a C again top pick 24.
Anaheim has young Cs Carlson, McTavish, Zegras.
Sea drafted Beniers, Wright, Catton.
Boston’s last 3 firsts were on C.

I could see teams taking wingers Eklund and McQueen before Desnoyers. Or dman Smith.
Remember Sennecke last draft.

Philly wasnt a bottom 5 team before March. Now with Boston in full-tank mode, they should pick around 7-8.

O’Brien at 9 according to McKenzie is not a major drop off from Desnoyers 6. Eight months younger than Hagens.

Hopefully hey keep drafting Cs with their 20ish picks. Nesbitt, Ryabkin, Cootes, Moore
If Ryabkin is still available when the Flyers are on the clock for the second time he will be a Flyer for sure.

Lol, Michkov and Ryabkin on the Flyers would turn malignant in the locker room fast, and would be an absolute disaster defensively. It wouldn’t be boring; that’s for sure. I hope it happens 😂

Most times, his defensive metrics are terrible. Reminds me a ton of a smaller Jonathan Cheechoo.
You know what, I see it. Especially in the way they move. Cheechoo was underrated, before his injuries he was fantastic.

Cheechoo was an exaggerated 6' though. They are pretty close to the same size.

I remember Cheechoo being ahead of the times in the way he'd change levels, he'd slow the play right down by getting low to create options. He could absorb a play like few others. He wasn't fast at all but he never needed to be.

Thinking of it more, I think they might be the best stylistic comparables. They have different brains, Cheechoo was underrated as a play maker but the rest of their games aren't too far off at times.

It’s okay to be upset. Hope you enjoy watching Michkov terrorize your team and the nhl for the next decade 😂

People in Utah (Arizona) should lose their jobs for hopping over Michkov.

This Ryan Jankowski guy is something else (current Dir. of scouting for Utah, former Dir. scouting/Head scout for hapless Islanders/Sabres. He is literally responsible for finding talent and has never done it. Never.

Eye test. Analytics. Historical results. Either way you cut it, hopping over Michkov is just a ridiculous blunder.

Yeah that pick turned out to be disastrous for Quebec...
What is wrong with you?

You can't compare the Lindros pick to the Michkov selection. One was a sure fire thing from the junior league in which you had every control of the situation.

The other is a promising young player out of a country in which you were never sure if he comes over. The Flyers expected to wait 3 years before they get any chance to see him in Philly.

At this time many teams started a bidding war for #88. Red Wings reportedly offered Yzerman+.

Isn't it obvious?

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Michkovs agent let them know he wouldn't come over if Arizona selects him?
Has there ever been any reliable proof that Michkov did in fact say he wouldn't come to the NHL if a "wrong" team drafted him?

Because it sounds crazy. I can believe that he was less enthusiastic about talking to other teams after his first meeting with Philly went so well, but to imply he wouldn't report to other teams?

And what, spend his whole career in the KHL?

Michkov's Agent: Russian Didn't Want To Be Drafted By Capitals Or Coyotes 'For Various Reasons'

Not sure how reliable you call that source.
