C Denver Barkey - London Knights, OHL (2023, 95th, PHI)

PHI must be very happy w/ this pick - it seems like for the past three seasons he has taken his game to another level in the playoffs.

2024/25 | 3 GP = 10 points (4g,6a)
2023/24 | 18 GP = 27 points (6g,21a)
2022/23 | 20 GP = 24 points (11g,13a)

Anthony Richard vibes. Pretty much same draft slot.

Mid/late round gems like Denver Barkey (hopfully he can translate his game to the NHL) make a significant difference in a rebuild. The Flyers have 3 first and 4 second round picks in the upcomig draft. With Michkovs arrival they need to find THAT guy for the first line center position more than ever and will be in good shape.

Danny Brieres next HC decision will be also very decisive. The next two off-seasons Philly frees up a boatload of cap space.

Gonna admit, I’ve watched very, very little Barkey, what is his realistic projection? Comparables? He seems super undersized but in today’s NHL, the few that have “it” can make it work, he has a legit shot?

Completed his 4th year in OHL. Loaded team so inflated stats is a possibility. Should be able to survive in AHL because of skating and IQ but man you cant have that many smallish players on roster: Brink, MM, Luchanko, Pelletier if he sticks, Andrae.

Def see a lot of inflated stats in the OHL, wouldn't be surprised if he just ends up an AHL'er, we'll have to see how he performs there next year and in camp. Michkov is the only guy whos untradeable there. Brink, Pelletier, and Andrae are all assets the Flyers can move on from. Isn't Luchanko like a hair under 6'0" and 191? He's definitely not a smaller guy like Michkov. Either way look forward to seeing the kid play in the AHL.

This kid IMO is one of the biggest wild card prospects. I don't see it out of the possibility that he's closer to that Logan Stankoven type tier. Logan's smaller than Barkey is now. I think the size thing is becoming a "where he was at vs where he is now". It wouldn't shock me if Barkey is in the low 180's during his pro career. As long as you continue to build strength, you should hold your own in this era. Can his game translate? The good thing I would say, is this can can drive the game vs just being a point producing tag along on a power house team. He seems like a driven kid, gets kicked down from Team Canada back to back, comes back and just does more each time. They lost the mem cup last year, lets see what he can bring to try and right that ship.
