Not sure why Leafs brass would give up on a 22 year highly talented D man. They can stick him on the Marlies next year if he doesn't make the team (edit - apparently he needs to go through waivers next year)

I disagree on the Spezza thing. I think we need a faster, more skilled 4th line. I don’t think you bring him back as a player. If you do he’s the 13th forward. But I rather have Robertson or Steeves or Joey Anderson get their shot now

As far as spezza he will sign another minimum contract. When he gets his 5 points for 1000 he will be paper shuffled to the marlies and will accept some sort of management position with the leafs. He then gets his ring under that position
