Holl is more a liability with his brain farts

Holl is such a frustrating case. It's like Dubas understands the value of a big wingspan defenseman who can kill penalties as a player type but trades down instead of up in the K'Andre Miller/Rasmus Sandin draft, doesn't bite on the Guhle/Schneider picks when he as a chance. I wish the Leafs would prioritize the 6'4" workhorse defenseman but make sure it comes in a multi tool, high end skill package.

Man still can't believe he signed this cheap. for 2 years as well so amazing
even if he sucks balls we can waive him/demote to AHL with zero dead cap. it's a win win situation all he is is 1 out of 50 contracts if he's all sudden jump. thats just awesome

so I guess Muzzin may be on his way out? could certainly use some of his cap to help get us a real #1 goalie.

Excited for this signing! Hopefully these older guys like Spezza and Gio taking discounts leaves an impression on our younger guys when they re-up.
Doubtful. A player in the twilight of his career is in a completely different financial situation than a player in his early 20s. Spezza and Gio have made their cash at this point (and if invested shrewdly, probably many times that) and are more concerned about their legacy and post playing career at this point.

Gio looked like he has a couple good years left, if used correctly, he could be a real anchor back there. I thrown him back with his buddy Brodie next year or Lil perhaps.

It's way different, but the haircut Rielly took was nice

I agree,Rielly showed us he is a real Leafs guy and wants to be in Toronto and Gio wants to be here as well.
To be competitive you need cap and some guys to take a cut for the overall team depth.

That being said I have zero confidence that in a couple of years Matthews and Nylander will resign unless the Leafs have the highest offer after they go UFA.
Both have shown they are not about the team and are 'ME' type guys and will not consider any discount.

This should mean a first round win for sure next season.

All obvious points.

I’m an optimist.

I really hope they actively shop Holl and resign Boosh or someone who brings the physical game.

I just can’t see another playoff series with Holl being a Dman and caused the Leafs a game or two.
If he and kerfoot was not on the team, Leafs likely playing Florida right now. Both those guys single handidly cost the first round exit.

If everything remains the same, I think you mix up the young kids with the experienced vet on pairings #2 and #3. Unfortunately, Sandin will have to likely put in some time on the right side.

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Sandin
Giordano - Liljegren
ex. Holl

I think it is important to not waste Sandin and Liljegren. They need to play. They all have capable partners. You could keep Justin Holl as depth, looking at Muzzin's health potentially being an issue.

I think any of Holl, Muzzin or Sandin could be comprised with this new found depth. Muzzin for cap space to use on a big fish, Holl could be subbed out for a cheaper mucker and the Leafs could gain a pick or the Leafs could pitch Sandin into a deal for a salary retained JT Miller.

Good on Gio, you made me day when those terms were announced.
Did you not watch the series? Did you not watch Holl cost the Leafs time and time again? HOLL NEEDS TO GO!

Yes thanks for that "idiot."
I'm thinking you read that wrong. I wasn't calling anyone here and idiot. I was talking about the player being an idiot.

Yep and Kerfoot was supposed to be someone who graduated from Harvard. You would expect his on ice IQ is a lot higher than he had shown.

He is a gem and he should still be a Leaf. We would have won the last three series with him in the line up.

Hopefully that's not an optional n they choose

He has a NTC so doubt he moves. The way I see it they have too many of the same type of dmen. Other than 55 and 8, they are average size, soft puck movers (assuming Holl will be moved). Need cap space to add a top 4 dman and Brodie would be my choice because Lily and Boosh's cap hit does not help much.

If that is the case, then I'd have no trouble trading both for a boatload of picks and prospects.
