Front Office better be putting together a kick butt Justin Holl highlight reel and passing it around the league right now!

You're literally tilting at windmills. Have you seen a single critical post?
Look again.

I would say Tampa/Toronto was the ECF, Colorado is still the top dog in the West and overall for me

But this is a fantastic signing, Gio is an absolute gem. Dude could have easily gotten 3M on the open market, took a massive discount, he understands how close this team is to winning it all. Look at the Florida series right now, it's a joke, Tampa up 3-0 and probably completing the sweep, it hasn't even been a contest. We are very close, we still need a reliable, legitimate 1G.
Sorry I know they couldn’t play for the cup, ……just meant they are the 2 two teams in the league IMO

I can't see them surviving another 1st round loss. It would truly be embarrassing for the team.

They need to find a Parayko type dman to play with Rielly.

Rielly a Parayko
Muzzin Brodie
Gio Boosh/Lily

I said that last off-season.

Hard to dislike this signing though, I thought 1 year at 1.5M but 2 years at 800k, even though I don't love the 2nd year, that's a solid 7th at worst.

Why ? 44, 8 and 55 are not sitting for Sandin.

they don't have to, I'm not convinced Muzzin will be back, I don't want to see him traded I love Muzzin but he might be on his way out.

Even if he's not though 39 year old Gio does not replace Sandin or make him expendable.

If Sandin were to be moved it's not because Gio came back

Have to figure were pushing Mo to Rd and rolling something like

Muzzin - Rielly
Gio - Lilj
Sandin - Brodie

As our core 6

i assume you are being sarcastic
Sandin is not a good Dman. He cant skate and is undersized. He got high IQ and likes to throw hit but if he pinches on PP or 5 v 5, he doesn't have the footspeed to recover, on top of that, he can't defend in front of the net. The worse thing is that you can't shelter him against opposing bottom 6 bc Sandin will just get over power.

Sandin might have to play the right side for the next while. While the idea admittedly sounds risky, it could also work out well enough if he's paired with Giordano or Muzzin? Alternatively, I suppose Giordano could also be the defender that finds himself slotted on his offhand side.

I LOVE Gio he's been great, but I just don't buy that 39 year old Gio makes Sandin expendable, if Sandin were to be moved he would be moved in a big trade to bring back a big piece, like if we want Cychrun out of Arizona he be moved as part of that deal.

as for him not being a good D man, he's a rookie, he makes rookie mistakes but if he's kept here he's going to grow into a top 4 guy

Those are possibilities. Guess it depends on whether they resign Boosh. My concern is we are too soft and not big enough with 44, 37, 38 and 78 in our top 6.

Not a Leaf fan myself but signings like these are what it takes to win a cup. Knows the team is tight with cap so takes minimum top stay with the team. Good example for Matthews if you guys don't win the cup by the time he signs his next contract. Doesn't just got for max money kinds like how Stamkos did in Tampa and it worked for him pretty well. I'm a wings fan and back in Detroit's glory days guys all took less to keep the team together. Pretty sure Shanahan since he's been with you guys. All those guys already signed massive contracts and if they really care about winning that much then sacrifice a bit. You guys are close and after watching the Panthers be dismantled by Tampa you had a legit shot this year. Long story short players should take notice and follow suit.

You gotta give to get. Sandin is a nice trade chip but the Chychrun ship has sailed now IMO. I'd target a Parayko type dman to play with 44.

I don't think Sandin is expendable but he is definitely a piece that Dubas should not be hesitant to move bc the LD are set esp since TJ can play LD too. Then you have Kral and that finnish defensive dman coming up.

As for Sandin's mistake. Those are not mistakes, those are his physical limitations, it will always be there. Just like Ryan Ellis, he was at one point a really good top pairing Dman but he was in constant battle in front of the net.
