Oilers top five PP players have a combined 7 more points at even strength than on the PP:
McDavid - 63 - 59
Draisaitl - 47 - 50
Nugent-Hopkins - 34 - 43
Hyman - 50 - 22
Barrie - 15 - 28

Leafs top five have 74 more:
Marner - 47 - 32
Nylander - 53 - 25
Tavares - 35 - 30
Matthews - 42 - 22
Rielly - 19 - 13

Hyman, like Willy, has a lot more at ES, but the rest of them are barely even or worse.

Their top five in points have 207 ES points.

Out top five have 212.

Their top five are a combined +22.

Our top five are a combined +73.

The Pacific is an absolute joke. Oilers have only won 1 playoff game against a non-pacific opponent in the last 5 years, 1 game. Were swept three times ? I believe, the 1 win was against Chicago in the play in round as well.

I mean, I agree the pacific blows, but also that’s a little misleading isn’t it? It’s not wrong, but playoffs are divisional, so the only way they’d play some from outside the pacific in the playoffs is by making the conference finals or it being the North division year. So, it’s only 2 series. 1 game is still bad, but it sounds worse the way you worded it lol

I don't think so, they get their asses handed to them every time they have to play a series against a team outside their division.

2018 - misssed playoffs
2019 - missed playoffs
2020 - lost in the play in vs Chicago, won just 1 game.
2021 - Swept by the Jets
2022 - Swept by the Avs

1-11 against non-pacific opponents in the last 5 years

Forgot about the play ins

I still don't know what McLeod was thinking but that Marner goal might have been the best goal I've ever seen scored by a Leaf. To make those moves in a phone booth, incredible. Btw, love Joe Bowen, he's got blue flowing through his veins.

McLeod had a brain fart. I think he thought he had more time to make the pass. But what's really perplexing is Nurse. He sees the pass get intercepted and starts skating backwards towards the blue line while watching the play.

He's almost at the blue line when Marner scored

I have said it before and I will continue to say. Draisaitl is far and away the least impressive superstar in the entire league. Like visually. You can't deny the production, but when he isn't putting up points....which is usually on the PP he is non existent and arguably a negative for the Oilers.

I am pretty sure he is a negative 5v5 player.

He is essentially a PP specialist.

The Oilers are are by far the most overrated and overhyped team in the NHL. All because if McDavid. He's amazing no question but remove him and they're a lottery team. Draisaitl is the most underwhelming star player in the league. Virtually invisible when not taking feeds from McDavid or playing on the PP.

What's worse is when you start to analyze and "normalize" their team stats. By just watching scores or highlights you could be easily tricked into thinking they're a decent team.

I love the summary that was posted in this thread about their playoff success (lack of) outside their brutal division.

This makes McDrai point totals look a little more sus. Imagine if the Leafs got the same PP opportunities lol

He's so bad defensively. Huberdeau is a good comparison for him

Thats all they are. A PP behemoth.

Come playoff time, say tata to those petty calls they get in the regular season.
