A very shrewd pickup to begin with and this continues to be more tidy business by Dubas.

32nd pick, RHD who hasn’t played 100 NHL games yet and has show some great potential, on a team friendly 2 year deal and still an RFA at the end of it?

This is great from end to end. Hopefully he can stay healthy and become exactly what he is capable of here for us.

It really was.

It's easy to play great when you are the new guy and have nothing to lose, I'm be interested to see next year when he has young guys pushing for spots, how he handles a little internal competition. He kinda had a tough run after he came back after he had to sit for a few games because we had injured dmen return.

I was hoping for under $1M, but that was more a product of our tight cap situation than Timmins' worth.

I think he should well outperform this contract based on how he's played for us thus far and if doesn't, he's below the buriable threshold.

A little risk; high reward deal.

It is below the buriable threshold, so it's actually zero risk.

Great deal. I'd have been happy if he signed this for one year, as a "prove it" type contract. But having that 2nd year on it suggests he's happy to be here and want's to give himself the best opportunity to stick around with this team.

Low/no risk deal, Timmins has shown some good things as well as bad, those bad things are not foundational and can be minimized by the more experience he acquires.

He's a decent skater, has an NHL level shot and has enough size strength to make him an effective PKer and stay at home type who could in future play in the 2nd pair, hopefully if they keep him he's tough enough to play in the NHL playoffs.
