Do people never learn from the NHL? Year after year, it's always: Team A can beat Team B, Team B can beat Team C, Team C can beat Team A. The NHL is very unpredictable, and all 30 teams are extremely close in their ability to win games. Plus, we usually do pretty good vs. Pittsburgh. Our shooters seem to light Fleury up a lot of the times.

Haha yeah, Pittsburgh has such an insanely strong core. The Neal pick-up worked out so nicely for them, he's an awesome player.

I'm curious to see how we do against a real good team.
 
Whats with all the Gunner hate, he plays one average game and everyone wants him off the team. He plays a solid non-flashy game and is very dependable, and was our best d-men last year.

Lol... everyone is acting like we're gonna get smashed and we've never beaten a good team before.

We were 2-1-1 vs. Pitt last year... we also beat the Rangers, Devils, Red Wings, Caps, Blues etc.
 
Guys.... Kessel hasn't scored yet.... I think we should put him on waivers and hope someone bails us out of that awful contract

Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
JVR - Grabovski - Kulemin
MacArthur - Bozak - Komarov
Brown - McClement - Orr

Gardiner - Phaneuf
Liles - Komisarek
Gunnarsson - Franson

Game wil show how good our tending is. Because MTL and BUF really do not have any pure scoring threats like PIT. Leafs lose.

The Kadri and Bozak lines don't suggest a change needs to be made. Bozak appears to have gotten a bit bigger over the offseason which has helped his board battles. He also has the highest faceoff% on the team which is perfect for that line. Get Lupes and Kessel the puck as soon as possible instead of playing defense. As for Kadri, it's still a learning experience. He should be brought along gradually rather than thrusted into the spotlight of the first line. I just have a feeling he'll overcompensate and try to do too much.

Agreed. Let Bozie stay there for a while until Kadri learns all aspects of being a center in the bigs. no need to rush.
 
For the short term:

Phaneuf - Kostka

Gardiner/Liles - Komisarek

Fraser - Franson


Carlyle likes Fraser, he does his job and his presence is felt on the ice.

Gardiner will probably be worked in a little, not too slowly but probably split minutes evenly with Liles and Fraser
 
3rd straight home opener. Yet another ceremony.

I hope they go with Reimer and go back to Scrivens for the next one.
 
Oh man this is going to be a difficult one.

I think we don't have a chance with our current system combined with our goalies.

The Carlyle game that is a low scoring oriented systematic game does not do well against one the top clubs in the league. Meaning with our goalies. A scrivens nor reimer can't stop those important shots during these low scoring games. Shots are not being shot for like minutes, goalies just stand there when these defensive minded players play the game. Then that one shot comes... and goes in. Game is 2-1 or 1-0. And it's over. This will happen a lot this season, if we don't get another goaltender.

This game is over over, I shall put a whole lot of money on the Pens squad. It's kind of a shame to get richer while your own team loses at the same time. But it's not like it's anything away from Toronto... except for those 2 points.

It'll be a dandy I can assure you.
