Any updates on Jake Gardiner's status for tonight? Yesterday they were saying it's a possibility...any news today?

I enjoy watching a good Defensive game. But I wouldn't want to watch 40 2-1 Losses this year. **** that

This will be a better indicator of our offensive performance IMO, since the last two were against Price and Miller. Fleury is a midddle of the pack tender on most nights. We need to get more traffic infront of the goalies though. They see almost everyone of our shots all the way through.

I'd like to see us breakout with at least 4 goals. I'm worried that we'll become a 1-2 goals per game team under Caryle and our goaltending isn't strong enough to win that way.

I'm not saying we aren't more of a defensive team but that last game against Buffalo, we should have been up a couple goals.

Lot's of chances were missed in the previous 2 games by running into great goaltending for the most part.

The goals will come. Hopefully the defense plays well when the offense arrives.

Hoping for the best but am not expecting to win against the Pens. We have to get our wins against teams like the Islanders, Sabres, and Habs and steal the odd one against the powerhouse teams. It's nice to see less turnovers and odd man rushes so far this season. If the Leafs can continue to commit to a sane defensive plan, getting ourselves out of the bottom 5 should be doable.

We know what we have in Bozak, Kessel, and Lupul(he's got to pick up his game IMO)

But what I am interested in is which line will be more effective tonight.

Grabo, JVR, Kulemin

or

Kadri, Mac, Komarov

The shuffled lines should favour Grabo's line with the insertion of JVR, certainly has more talent, but will it be good losing a defensively responsible winger as Mac? We will see.

Phaneuf has been fantastic for the last 2 games. And he did well against Malkin last year. If they can keep Crosby in check as well this game is winnable. Our new D first Leafs have been impressive so far. I don't mind low scoring games at all as long as we're on the higher end of the score.

Also really hoping to see Komarov chirping Crosby and Malkin and getting under their skin. Can't wait for tonight.

when grabo and kulie are put out to stop the opponents best line they always bring out their best game, especially against malkin

Lupul was probably our best forward on Monday...

Lupul, Kessel, Bozak and Kadri have played really well although haven't hit the scoreboard. As has been said a million times, our whole second line has to wake up, you can't just wait for Lupul and Kessel to score all the time. Thank God for Kadri or we would have 1 goal scored in the first two games..

Anyone know if Mike Komisarek is in the lineup tonight? He looked rock solid on Saturday and then he gets benched....Go figure.

Isn't this why you are paid as a top 6 C? Bergeron, Richards, players of this ilk don't need excuses. Paving the way for one and the game hasn't even begun...

The problem with our third line is you want Komarov chirping their stars but I don't like Kadri having to cover them in the defensive zone. Kulemin - Bozak - Komarov would be a nice checking line tonight.

This should be a good test to see how Carlyle's new defensive approach to things is working.. Lots of fire power on the Pens to test this out.

Winning this game would come as a pleasant surprise.

Agreed, this game will be quite telling for the Leafs team. Pittsburgh is looking like they will steamroll the league this year and their competition is struggling early so far this season. We are not expected to win this game.

If the Leafs can take it to them, it'll definitely change a lot of views on how this team will finish this season.

i think grab is just as good defensively as bozak. also, bozak-lupul-kessel have been playing well, just not getting a lucky bounce. grabs line could use a little incentive.

i think kulemin-grabs-komorov would be a better checking/chirping line. it would also leave the other line as jvr-kadri-mac which i think would be a pretty decent second line.

we had over 60 shots in 2 games , that is not playing a defensive style game.
but we only gave up 42 shots.
under wilson 30 shots for and 35 shots aganist.
better game under carlyle and should score more goals, less against.
the goals are going to come
