Meaningless is a relative term, and every game in October is "relatively meaningless", especially when compared to a playoff series. For players, it's different. They should be playing hard and trying to win every single game no matter how "relatively meaningless" it is. That's because it's their job, and they're paid very well for it.

I can only speak for myself, but I am hyped up about any night where I can watch the Leafs. It's really weird to come on here and see people like Ulfy boy throwing in the white flag.

It should be fair game, in that case, for anyone to say “this group just doesn’t have it” if they don’t show up tonight against the team that ended their season. Don’t dismiss it as “meaningless” if they lay an egg. Fair?

That expert has 50 years of watching experience, combined with my 62, I'd say I know where the weight of high quality opinion lies. Also, Reaves wasn't on the team last year.

Either were you but he has been in this situation.
Not sure I follow what your point is or what watching experience has to do with anything.
If it's that you don't think teams are a little more fired up to play the team that recently knocked them out, that's certainly your right to believe that.
Vast majority including players think otherwise.

There is no such thing as a meaningless game. There is a massive difference between "meaningless" and "relatively meaningless".

I'm far from hyped up, but still very much looking forward to the game as I look forward to any Leaf game. And I'm with you - I can only speak for myself. The team has millions fan so it's completely normal that on any given night, some people are more excited than others and frankly it would be weird if that wasn't the case.

We're all Leaf fans, it would be cool if people worried less about how excited others are or aren't. I figure we are all fans, we all want the team to win every game they play, why not focus more on what we have in common.

Whether anyone is excited or not, I say Leaf fans unite. GLG!!

It should, but this is the Leafs. They're not wired that way.

If they were they would beat up on the Habs every time they play them as payback for being embarrassed at coughing up a 3-1 series lead. Or at least beat up on them once.

Sadly this group needs a Maurice-like raging verbal smack down to get any kind of emotional response. And they sure aren't getting it from Sheldon "I apologized the next day" Keefe, nor from the Captain Monotone Tavares. Reeves maybe, but it doesn't have the same resonance from a fourth liner.

And that is why the Panthers went to a Cup final and stomped us like an afterthought last year.
