Start the ATO tomorrow against Tampa just for fun. f*** it.
I would start them tonight to show Gary and the NHL up for the bullshit the Leafs have to go through.

Big playoff implications on the line tonight for FLA/PItts/Islanders and you deny the recall of a emergency backup goalie... If Toronto did play the ATO, the league would look real bad.

His hands look silky smooth to me.

Obviously can get better... but nope, he has good hands.

His hands in tight seem to be particularly good.

I think his hands are some of his best attributes.

People are acting like he is some big unskilled power forward.

I don't think he is unskilled, I think he is a 20 year old developing young man and thinks a game at a very high level, a level that his developing body does not always execute in a silky smooth pro level. I think with time and development, he's going to be a great asset and the professional polish will come with time.

Oh the petty side of me would be so god damn tempted to start the ATO tonight lol it would turn into such a shit show. Would be glorious.

Lol. Okay Gary, it’s your league. Leave the fate of one of your biggest American markets making the playoffs on the hope that Florida doesn’t play dirty pool and injure our starter to face the ATO goalie.

#23 but not yet confirmed about tn:

All the great #23's inthe Leafs past

They breath on Sammy tonight he should be coming out. Like Tkachuk gets in his general direction out he comes and in goes the ATO.

Because the NHL hates Toronto. Like honestly. Yesterday Boston recalled 6 players on an emergency basis with no issue, but the Leafs can’t emergency recall Woll even though Murray banged his head and is well known to have injury issues.

There’s no good reason to not allow it, especially when this game has playoff implications for Florida and two other teams. It’s bush league that Woll can’t be recalled, but Vegas can parade Mark Stone a week before the playoffs and Arizona can acquire all the retired guys they want to reach the cap floor.

Emergency Recall and Roster Emergency Exception are two different things.

Emergency Recall requires cap space. Toronto recently used Emergency Recalls on Simmonds and Woll for example. The Boston recalls are all normal Emergency Recalls.

Roster Emergency Exception allows a team with insufficient cap space to recall a player with a $0 cap hit. That is what was denied: the NHL most likely determined Toronto had the cap space to recall Woll after sending Simmonds down, but instead used that cap to sign Knies. Once Simmonds went to the AHL there was no longer an emergency.

This league is f***ed.

Like Papetti says, the parties with the biggest issue to this will be Pittsburgh and the Islanders if the ATO has to play and he gets torched. Not our fault this league has it out for the Leafs and won’t permit an emergency call up.

My memory might be f-ed but I seem to vaguely recall a few years ago, NYI did some shady shit that helped a team make the playoffs and it eliminated us. Something like they were resting players and gave two easy points to the team we were fighting for the last playoff spot. Comes around goes around. For all the teams that thought it was a joke to claim every player we put on waivers, F U, we owe no one, no favors.

I could be completely off the plot but my understanding is it is to late in the season to put Murray on LTIR. So to be able to sign Knies they couldn't fit Woll in...league wouldn't let him be an emergency recall for tonight because the Leafs used the extra cap space on signing Knies and not filling in a 2nd goalie.

It's how I understand it too.

NJ rested Martin Brodeur and NYI ended up winning in the shootout, eliminating us from the playoffs.

The thing that still doesn't make sense about this is that even with Knies playing tonight, the Lafferty and Jarnkrok minor injuries leave the Leafs with only 11 healthy forwards on the roster right now. So basically Gary expected the Leafs to run 10F tonight?

Even for the last game, if they had recalled Woll instead of Simmonds for that game, they would have only played with 11F, which I'm pretty sure still would have created the conditions to use a roster emergency exception, except with a forward instead of goalie.
