Knies just has to play his game. If I am the Leafs, I give Jarnkrok another night off and play Knies in the top-6 for the next 3 games.

There is no way you can see what the kid can do if you play him 4th line minutes with 4th liners when that won't be his role.

Feed him minutes and opportunities, and then re-evaluate after the reg. season ends.
yes sir 100 percent agree with this

I imagine that if they play with the EBUG tonight, that will trigger the emergency conditions for tomorrow?

The thing that still doesn't make sense about this is that even with Knies playing tonight, the Lafferty and Jarnkrok minor injuries leave the Leafs with only 11 healthy forwards on the roster right now. So basically Gary expected the Leafs to run 10F tonight?

Even for the last game, if they had recalled Woll instead of Simmonds for that game, they would have only played with 11F, which I'm pretty sure still would have created the conditions to use a roster emergency exception, except with a forward instead of goalie.

That wouldn't have created a Roster Emergency Exception situation. The REE rules go by 18 skaters (F+D) and 2 goaltenders, not 12F/6D/2G. The Leafs could have iced a roster with 11F and 7D last game--they healthy scratched Rielly and Brodie.

Excited about Knies' debut, not thrilled that Samsonov has to start. Bush league call by the NHL.

Wanted to start the EBUG... he has a .873 and 3.96 in 35 games in the OHL this year... I no longer want to start him.

This league is f***ed.

Like Papetti says, the parties with the biggest issue to this will be Pittsburgh and the Islanders if the ATO has to play and he gets torched. Not our fault this league has it out for the Leafs and won’t permit an emergency call up.

EDIT: I cannot stress enough that my main point is that it's bad from THE LEAGUE'S PERSPECTIVE to not allow this emergency recall. I don't care about helping Pittsburgh or NYI. I'm saying it'd be in the league's best interest to let tonight's game with playoff implications be played as competitively as possible and not let one of two playoff spots left be left to the chance of an ATO goalie coming in.

they allowed Tampa/Kucherov to cheat; They are also currently allowing VGK/Stone to cheat

Leafs pull some stunt and not even with crazy AAV money; its back up goalie and a rookie and league gets a foot up their ass

NHL is clearly a JOKE

It's fun. It's fun to play in Toronto. You know, obviously I'm a little bit biased. I'm a Toronto kid. But I strongly consider Toronto to be kind of the Mecca of hockey. I really do. Just with all the media and the fans and, obviously, the history of the Leafs."

Having said that, who does Connor McDavid like watching on TV when he's not practicing or playing with the Oilers?

"I like watching players obviously more than teams. So I like watching Pittsburgh for obvious reasons. And I'm probably going to get in trouble for saying this (chuckles) but I like watching the Leafs just with all the talent they have. Those are probably my top two."

Oooooo Oilers fans going to be pissed about this lol.

Not only could the Leafs have chosen not to sign Knies, but they could have also chose to waive Timmons. I think the NHL is correct in ruling that the Leaf's emergency is of their own making. I think Dubas knew there wass a good chance that the emergency request could be denied and simply gambled and lost.

That being said, if Murray is still unable to go tomorrow night, I wouldn't be surprised if there are reports tomorrow that Sansonov is suffering from tightness or soreness and they will probably be allowed an exception to call up Woll who will start with an ATO backup. Although even then, the argument that they could waive Timmons still remains.

Obviously this is a game Gary wants Florida to win. Bet their will be a few critical non-calls by the refs tonight too, to favour Florida.

Aside from Florida, I wonder who Gary wants in the other wild card spot, the Pens or the Islanders? Time will tell.

I would have dressed the OHL kid and let Pittsburgh flip out on the league.

Would have told the boys don't block shots, fight or hit, it's a pleasure skate.

Basically tell the league to f*** around and find out.
