He needs a practice with the team .
Probably not tonight.
When did the other prospect play when he was finished college last yr.

Of course Abruzzese is older and well, much smaller.

One thing that jumps out to me from just his NCAA highlight reels is his puck handling isn’t that clean. He seems to bobble the puck quite a bit pulling the Peter Forsberg power moves, curl and drag, or shovelling the puck with one hand etc. But he has the size and strength to keep the momentum going north etc. Just wonder what that will translate into early in his pro career if he’ll try those moves, if they result in turnovers. Or if he’ll play a more conservative game to start. Also seems to love crashing the net like a Chris Kreider so would love to see that at the pro level.
Especially in his own end, he has a tendency to try these cute moves that he's probably going to have to cut out fast. Other than that, I do think you want to see him bring in as much of his transition game as possible as it's one of the things he's best at. The thing that sets Knies apart from most prospects is he has many different ways to play to be effective. Unlike a Robertson or a Sandin, you can feel comfortable plugging him into the bottom of your lineup and telling him to play a safe and physical game and know that you're still playing him to his strengths

I think I've seen about 20 posts now about Knies having "too high of expectations" and precisely 0 posts that are claiming these alleged expectations. Really, I don't think I've seen a single one yet.
You must have missed the ones where posters have him on the first line. Lol

1st line does not mean he is getting 1st line minutes. But why not throw him into the fire and put him with our skilled guys? I see no issues.

There’s been a number of guys in past and recent years that have made the jump and been fine.

Cole Caufield, Quinn Hughes, Matt Boldy, Alex Tuch, Charlie McAvoy, Cale Makar, Jordan Greenway, Tyler Boxak, Ben Meyers, Tyler Kleven, Jake Sanderson, Shane Pinto.

Granted a good chunk of those guys were assigned to AHL the following season. Or before they came back up but they did well.

At this point of the season teams are rarely practicing. It’s basically optional skates with travel days anyways.

This game has a different feel than Saturday's borefest - atleast FLA will be in ultra competitive mode trying to get into playoffs and the boys can play spoiler.

While that may be true it still speaks to high expectations

Personally, I just think he will succeed more on lines 1/2 than 3/4... they are given different roles, that's why I want him in the top 6, not because I expect him to go ppg

Fine, if we can’t know what the lineup is and who’s in net, for Christ sakes, at least let us know what’s for dinner while we wait….

Me: Easter turkey leftovers, with mashed, gravy, pesto salad.

I swear people are creating these unrealistic expectations in their own imagination at this point.

Again, not one person has said this.

People have been saying to play him in the top-6 in the 3 meaningless games before the playoffs so the Leafs have an idea of what they have, and to rest other top-6 players heading into the playoffs.

The dumbest move would be to put him with 4th liners for 5 minutes. What exactly would be the point when he will never be playing 4th line? What could the team possibly learn about him from that?

And near as I can recall, Bozak came right in and played top line - and was undrafted.

How about we let Knies' play determine where he plays, not people's feelings?

It's insane. Like people have completely forgotten how to comprehend what they are reading, and are simply replacing it with figments of their own imagination.
I’ve seen many posts with playoff lines with knies as the 2LW. Countless people before the deadline said “knies will be the deadline add”.
Some guy even said knies is better than Logan Cooley.
Playing knies with 3/4th liners should be the move though, IF he plays in the playoffs that’s going to be his role. Playing him in the top 6 exclusively means you play him in a placeholder spot, one he doesn’t touch in the playoffs.

If Bunting can play in the top 6 I'm sure Knies can handle it.

The only good thing about this final week is getting to see Knies play for us tbh before we can get excited again for hockey for the 1st time since like November/December. I know people probably assume Knies is a shoe in for our playoff lineup but atm I don't think he is as much as some might think. Idk how roster moves work at this time of year but could he still play for the Marlies and their playoff push since he might be needed more down there then up here.
