how many playoff wins does Dubas have under his belt compared to Lou's tenure with the Islanders?

About the same in the last 3 years? We hate Dubas but love Lamoriello. What's so great about the recent Islanders playoff success?

Doesn't seem like experience matters very much?

Just Muzzin there these days isn't it?

Anyone think he's coming back? We're all guessing a season on LTIR and retire at end of current contract right?

There's no better 3rd goalie to carry on an opening night roster than one making league minimum (Woll). 3 goalies is not a problem to open a season. The Leafs probably will need 3 goalies regardless of the presence of Murray and/or Samsonov because Woll is also an uncertainty himself in terms of health and performance.
They still need to be cap compliant so Murray being with the club is $4.7M of lost space. He has to be gone unless Sami is and that would be a mistake. They need to buy him out.

Robidas Island........
Robidas islaned requires the players agreement to some degree. Murray is 28 years old, and whether you agree or not he most definitely believes he has an NHL future. There is no way he knowingly forfeits what could be 1-5? more years on NHL contracts.

if Robidas Island is too crowded, how about the island of misfit toys????????

Our next GM evaluating the core.

An award? Oh my. I did answer but I didn't know this was your gotcha! If only the Leafs had Lamoriello's GM of the year award and a cup ri.... oh. Shucks.

Would you move him on retaining half? $2.35 dead space this year is probably better then $2m next year with new contracts firing up.

In my personal opinion, it seems as though Kyle Dubas is attempting to utilize psychological warfare against MLSE in order to try and persuade them into giving him the desired and extremely undeserving contract extension rumoured to be worth roughly $4 million annually and includes access to the company jet.

psychological warfare

psychological warfare, also called psywar, the use of propaganda against an enemy, supported by such military, economic, or political measures as may be required. Such propaganda is generally intended to demoralize the enemy, to break his will to fight or resist, and sometimes to render him favourably disposed to one’s position. Propaganda is also used to strengthen the resolve of allies or resistance fighters. The twisting of personality and the manipulation of beliefs in prisoners of war by brainwashing and related techniques can also be regarded as a form of psychological warfare.
Wow. Watch Succession much?

My takes

1. The Leafs are a well run and professional organization. They have established processes in place, that allow them to make informed decisions. They have scenarios mapped out and have done their homework on all fronts. For example, I am confident they have had internal and external discussions about new people coming in to replace Dubas if need be.

Having said that, I'm not saying these decisions are correct, just saying they are made with a structured approach w/ much thought and input. I don't think they are caught off guard as many fans seem to think.

2. Kyle Dubas is a very good and competent GM. He has just come off a very emotional (and bitterly dissappointing) playoff season. All you need to see is him in the pressbox.

So he needs a few days to come off that ride, to gather his thoughts on where he is in his career, talk to his family about all the pressures of the job and make a proper decision for him and his family.

TML has granted him that time, as any good organization should.

Everyone involved is well aware of the timelines, deadline pressures, contract situations, etc...

We are not privy to their ongoing discussions b/c good organizations does not leak.

There is no drama here, decisions will be made and announced in due time.

I have to imagine they're conducting or have conducted interviews with potential GMs in the case that Dubas decides to walk, you can't be scrambling if he decides he's not going to re-sign with the club.

Futa?
Gorton if he wants the official GM title?
Treliving?

Anyone else I am missing?

Certainly has an air plausibility to it lol.. not as exciting as the Board running around hair on fire and Dubas rocking back and forth in the fetal position in a corner, but you just might be on to something here.

Well said. Probably the most sane take around here.

Dreger on Panthers winning in quadruple-OT, the Leafs still waiting on Dubas and more - TSN.ca

TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger joins us to chat about the quadruple-OT victory by the Panthers over the Hurricanes, if he was able to stay up for the entire game, the controversial goalie interference call, if Brandon Pridham will replace Kyle Dubas and more.

WILL BRAD TRELIVING BE THE NEXT GM OF THE TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS?

Darren Dreger was on TSN 1050 and was asked the question about Toronto’s GM situation. He believes the Leafs want to keep Kyle Dubas as GM, but if the workload is too much and he wants time to spend with family, he will not be back and a decision will be made either today or this weekend.

Dreger went on to say in his radio hit, that if Dubas is not back, they will NOT hire internally. Assistant GM Brandon Pridham is the logical choice, but they will look for a GM with experience. The Toronto Maple Leafs are in win now mode and they need a GM that can come in and do what is needed for them to be a Stanley Cup contender.

Dreger believes former Calgary Flames GM Brad Treliving would be the perfect choice for the Leafs if Dubas decides not to come back.

Im happy to hear. Calgary builds a tougher team with more compete with less.

Do we get Kadris back?

CJ on TSN:

* Became apparent this morning that this is where it would end up.

* Comments he made on locker exit day, caught organization really off-guard. Definitely felt extension talks were being had, but when Kyle opened the door to him not being "All-in", it cast doubt.

*Not sure how the team will spin it - organization decision vs Kyle's personal decision. Had some sources tell him it was a team decision, but he's not so sure.

* Dubas was a huge part of this team, including off the ice. Says he's stunned that the organization moved off him. Doesn't think Dubas was out of answers, and would have bet on him continuing to grow and evolve on the job.

* Has no sense of who the new GM would be. Makes the prediction of who coaches this team next season impossible.

* Wonders what this means for Matthews' extension. Speculates that he won't be signing before July 1st anymore, until he knows who the new GM is and what the plan is moving forward.
