Leafs need to address the goaltending.

I mean, it certainly has nothing to do with giving up odd man rushes, grade A opportunities, PP’s… did it?

Why is it impossible for you to see that when our team plays like crap, and is defensively inept, we give up goals?

We gave up a 4-1 lead in the second, because the team in front of Jones was utter crap. Thankfully Jones held the fort and we played well in the third.

Goaltending was a strength last night, not a weakness.

Goaltending ended up being OK, but 3 goals on the first 15, maybe 16 shots lends to the point of this 3rd.

Especially the 3rd goal

No context at all... is this a comedy routine?

It doesn't matter how the team plays, the number of high danger opportunities given up at all.... it's always the goalies fault, no matter what?

Last nights xGA 3.605 Actual 3. Goals saved above expected... 0.605

CF 38 CA 63
High Danger Chances for: 12
High Danger Chances against 18

Giving up 18 High Danger Chances against, is terrible.... was the worst of any team last night, and much worse than any average.

Seriously, your analysis of why we get scored against is terrible, to the point of comedy.

Samsonov is a f***ing loser. This guy is absolutely horrendous.
 
Do they let Martin Jones run with it for a while? Play the call-up game and bring Hildeby up between Jones starts? Samsonov is not giving them a good chance to win games. An NHL level effort tonight in net gets them two points.
 
I think we might need a Jake Allen type insurance policy. Obviously we can't invest in a Saros. But it'll be Woll and some safety net like Allen. Or Jones if he gets some reps and establishes himself more.

Proven right yet again, they get 5 goals and it still isn't enough because Samsonov is a piece of shit.

And despite Samsonov being a piece of shit they are STILL only 4 points out of top stop in the Atlantic and I believe the east too.

Imagine if Samsonov wasn't a piece of shit.

Saros is not available but if that ever changes yes you can invest in him.

I believe Jones can back up Woll (once Woll returns). He just needs a few games under his belt to build his confidence up. He has had success in the NHL before.

Samsonov absolutely has to go though. Nothing else needs to be said, the proof is in plain view.

Are you allowed to put a player on waivers or trade after an arbitration award?

Allen look like Samsonov.. can be great but gave up pratically 1 weak goal every game hes playing...

I think so but waivers is no good it doesn't get rid of enough of his salary.

Removing Samsonov from the mix might be one of those Klingberg style additions by subtraction at this point. You just don't want that bad body language, the unpredictability of his starts.

who cares if he's injured right now? So long as he gets back before the season is over and has time to get back into the rhythm before the playoffs.

The cool part is he has all of christmas break to heal up nicely. So relax.

I’m not sure if it’s crazy or not how much I long for the days of just Andersen. Year after year of shoestrings and hope in net, year after year of sieves costing us points.

I don’t want to hear about Woll either, he has 26 career games. Planning on him as a long term solution is more of the same problem, praying that one of these guys can succeed when thrown into the fire. We’re going to fry our only promising goalie prospect by having him play 60 games a year behind a trash defense with waiver-undesirables as backup?

We need a goalie. We have for years.
