Woll (3rd)
Scott (4th)
Ahktyamov (4th)
Hildeby (4th)
Peksa (6th)
Bouthillier (7th)

That's 4/6 that were/are in our pipeline the last few years taken in the first half of the draft. Other than Bouthillier, they've all been very good post draft.
It’s a wait and see at this time: Woll looks good and often, very good. Heard Hildeby has rebound control issues, but there’s time.

And I think that’s it really. Scott’s done. Peksa - is he having a tough time of it in the ECHL? AA? Shown promise in the VHL/MHL but no real looks in the K as of yet right?

We’re definitely better than we were, but time and attention demand we prioritize better goaltending prospects in the future.

There is no way I would just hand the #1 job to Woll because he's not going to play enough this year to prove he deserves it.

Woll has to earn the #1 job, he can't do that if he's out until February or March which is likely with his current injury.
I didn't say hand it to him but at the end of the season if he has proved it then yes .
He has shown me that he can , Remer all goaltenders have a bad game or 2

Yes they do and last night proved it again. a real #1 goalie doesn't let in the 1st, or 3rd goal.
You really thing he could have stopped the 3rd goal wow.
Put some of the blame on fancy pants for not hustling his ass of to get back.

Yes I do, because I've seen Woll do it, I'm not on the Woll train just yet because currently he's a rebound machine, yes every goalie gives up rebounds but not like Joseph Woll does.

That said he does stop that 3rd goal fairly consistently especially when it wasn't tipped, nobody crashing the net, no real screen it was a clean shot.

Samsonov should have had it.

If one ignores history, history will repeat itself……..
Ignoring history is not even what's happening here, nor is it being suggested, so I'm not sure what the point is.

A poster is suggesting that they are mad we didn't draft Carter Hart nearly a decade ago, and are mad that we haven't prioritized drafting goalies, in particular in the first rounds.

But, we have learned from the past, and drafted six goalies in the last eight years. Bottom line, you don't draft goalies in the back half of the first round. Statistically it's a losing proposition. Second and third rounds aren't bad, Fourth is ok, fifth and sixth not so great, and seventh is a pretty good spot to select a goalie, compared to other positions.

We haven't had picks in the top 14, the rest of the first round would be a waste, and then 5 of our 6 picks have been in ranges where it makes good sense to draft a goalie. The one pick in the not so great area is Peksa.

The area of history that is being ignore the most here, is that goalies take a long time to develop, and we've got four that have been developing quite well so far. On top of drafting, we've gone the College FA route, and signed a former 3rd rounder, who up until this year was progressing pretty well in Petruzelli. He's having an off year for sure, but that doesn't mean we write him off completely either. He's only 24, and just getting to that goalie development sweet spot.

So that's seven goalie prospects brought into the system in the last eight years... so we've learned... bring a bunch in, they are a bit like lottery picks, have patience with them, and develop them. At some point, one or two of these guys will be our NHL goalies.... Woll is very good, if he can stay injury free, so there is NHL now hope there.

But this certainly isn't a case of not learning from history, in fact the exact opposite argument is being made.

The problem with Samsonov is you can’t reliably predict what he’ll bring any given night. I can see the Leafs moving off him after this year just like Washington. There’s a lot of good in his game but it’s mixed in with enough bad that it’s not worth it.

Last years playoffs was the true test for me.

9 games 4 wins 5 losses with 3.13 GAA and .898 sv%

For salary purposes I think they have to move off him regardless. They will need to allocate a portion of his money elsewhere in the lineup.

Actually, he is very predictable. He is mentally fragile, physically fragile, unreliable, and in his best day, a below average goaltender.
We all know it, he knows it.
Some refuse to admit it because we need hope to hang onto. He is not even adequate.

It's been something akin to a tale of two goalies...except it's been about uneven play by the same goalie. Mind you, a trying season with Washington was how Samsonov became a Leaf in the first place. While I'll always be fond of his rebound here last season, it isn't too tough to imagine this season being his final one as a Leaf for one reason or another (either Woll establishes himself as the starter or Samsonov prices himself out of town).

Win or lose this game does nothing to prove me wrong.

They have given up 15 or 16 shots and 3 goals against.

Goaltending needs to be addressed

I think we can all agree that the goalie tandem should be Woll and Jones moving forward

Jones appears to be fine enough in net when not coming into the game "cold". I'm aware that it's been just the one start! ;)

Who is out there that is available? Better question, who is the next guy after that? Cause if the first guy lets in 3 goals in the first game, well he's out the door and on to the next one. Better get a deep list.

.793 save percentage for Shesterkin tonight.
He shows that every goaltender goes through a rough patch .
He'll there backup Qiuck everyone thought he was done . He has a resurrection playing
great.
Woll is still young for a goaltender like any player he has things to work on but he has been really good so far
One thing with Woll he never gives up on a puck.
As our defense gets better so will he.
I pick the Brick Woll.
His last 6 games a .927 save %

very good outing from Jones. I think we'll be fine,
Honestly as long as Jones can give us around .900 goaltending I'll take it. That should be enough to give this team a chance most nights. Expecting more is probably unfair and unrealistic

Hopefully Sammy picks up his game a bit.
Then Woll comes back healthy and gets in in 5 to 10 games before the deadline and puts up the same numbers before the injury.
Then maybe we can get a second for Sammy.
Use the 2nd + Abruzzese to get a defensive partner for Mo.
