Tavares with a bit more speed could’ve affected the shot.

I think we all forgot how good matthews is….when he is healthy and playing like this he is by far our best player. Makes me so happy seeing him back and playing like this. Makes watching the leafs so much more fun

I disagree. JT out there in 3 on 3 continues to be a massive liability every single game.

Yes, Willy made a bad play this game, but it doesn't change the fact that every game JT is out there in OT it is painful to watch.

Have you played hockey before? the two Florida players were already going forward, JT had to pivot. I don't understand how you blame him. Even with the pivot he was a half stride off. If anything he showed good speed there.

I haven't seen a game where opposition is a 2 on 1 with Rielly back defending and there is no goal against the Leafs unless goalie pulls a blinder

He did not make it back in time and did not put pressure on the shooter.

This game, yes, JT is not the one to shoulder most of the blame, but any of our other forwards would've done a better job there simply by being able to skate faster.

3 on 3 has a ton of open ice - speed is a critical skill. JT is consistently completely useless or a complete liability in 3 on 3 because he can't keep up with the play.

gotta agree. there’s too much ice for johnny to cover defensively in 3v3. there’s also little to no play on the boards so no need for a power presence. There are better options.
