Management cares more about how we are perceived as a franchise. No chance management will ever ask any of these guys to waive let alone trading them in this kind of window (which I'm fairly sure doesn't actually exist).

Any business that will prioritize the DEI bullshit instead of meritocracy is bound to fail. It is flawed in its inception by nature.

Leafs need an attitude adjustment not just on and but also off ice. Merit based system should be implemented but I don't know if MLSE/Leafs have the brass to do it

Why would Benoit ever sign here? He can get paid more money somewhere else and not have to be the only one hurting his hands on a weekly basis.

Spoilers: THEY DONT

Wouldn’t that average out the same though?

He probably has 1-2 games in those 6 he stole
He probably has 2-3 games in those 7 we should’ve won anyways

So idk he hasnt been good by any stretch, but he’s just another part of the problem, I don’t see a reason to single him out after this game
I wouldn’t put him at fault for the loss. I’d give the Islander goalie credit for the win. Switch goalies and Leafs win that game.

Not just there.

when your actual best D defensive side is Benoit and nobody outside of rielly creating thing offensively... they doesn't exist any area leafs should focus more.

they can make a run with their actual foward group

they can make a run with Woll-samsonov

but with this D, no chance at all. They cant enter in playoff with the worst D group amount playoff team and think they will have succes

they are all pending UFAs (bert has a NMC/NTC I think but he can be convinced easily IMO for that UFA deal where he can go somewhere else and prove that he's worth more).

Mohanan got a 1st +++ ffs, I am pretty sure if we retain 50% on all of them we can at least get one 1st rounder and a few 2nd rounders
I get the anger, but there is honestly no chance that this team is going to trade players for first round picks.

You nailed it.

Mike was an ass, but exactly the one they needed. He tried to make them accountable, while Lou tried to install a minimal amount of discipline with his old-school come in shaved and in suit attitude.

I get why people did not like them, but we needed both more than anything else and we had them.

You give kids free a pass and then expect Foligno to lead by an example. Foolish
It wasn't just Foligno. So many of the guys we brought in who were GREAT fits bolted as soon as they could. They knew the inner workings, and if any of them felt the team would turn into a winner I feel they would have stayed to be a part of that. They didn't, and can claim it was money but I really feel they all knew that unless some big changes happened there was no point staying.

Anyway, no proof, it is just hearsay, but I believe it to be more true than not.

Playoff style hockey where one side commits penalties above the ref threshold and doesn't get called for most of them. The usual, lost due to a coach who can't be the difference.

It did though. The moment he signed the new contract NMC went active. I thought the same.

No it didn't.

That said I doubt anyone trades for him with that impending contract so it basically went active. I have no idea why Treliving was scared to wait until the end of the season as if his value was going to go up.

I’d love to blame Keefe but too many games this team is careless with the puck. I said it after the first period, I thought Rielly didn’t have his head in this game. Keefe has to be responsible for what looks like a lack of structure in their own zone. Too many open looks for players.

We need to find secondary scoring from somewhere. The top 4 salaries are going to have to score 4 or more cause no one else seems capable to score when they’re shutdown.

I knew this was going to be a game where we were going to get goalied. Move on to the next.

I mean, it's exactly what we have been watching over the past eight seasons come playoff time, but they are just playing this way during the season now.

This team is horrendous defending off the rush, like obscenely terrible. It stands out more when missing guys like Jarnkrok and Kampf.

Samsonov probably wants that third one back, but that was entirely on 44. p***yass play along the boards, p***yass coverage in front of the net. Even with the turnover, that goal was avoidable.

They are exactly what they have been since the start of the season. Mediocre team that wins some games because of their top tier talent. Honestly, they are terrible imo.

I also feel their shitty home record is not getting enough airtime, 11-10-2? 10th worst home record. PP is 7 spots worse at home. PK is 3rd worst at home.
A big part is coaching related but IMO the quiet atmosphere at SBA is part of the issue too.

We shouldn't be adding. A typical game that we lose and we did
We really have one line we can trust defensively.
If I was GM, our 1st along with our top 5 prospects would be marked as untouchable. Trade a 3rd and 5th for a Zadorov like player that comes with an extension, have at it. All other assets saved for "next year".
