Dubas deserves a lot of the blame but at least his teams could defend.
Pizzaboy has built a team that is every bit as soft and still had no depth but can no longer defend.
Somehow he managed to nullify one of our biggest strengths without addressing any of our weaknesses.
Gotta hope Bert and max wake up soon or start selling. There is no magic bullet.

You believe Klingberg is so much worse than Holl that the leafs defense is now considerably worse? I’d give you slightly worse but that seems a bit of hyperbole to think he has dragged the team down that much vs someone like Holl who was shit on every other game for being god awful.

He is though. Holl was a plus player every single season for us, Klingberg averages a -20 the past 4 seasons combined. Holl is easily a better defenseman than Klingberg

If a company went 5 straight years of struggling and failing and the only thing that stayed the same was a core of employees and one executive those would be replaced. At some point MLSE needs to start looking at the core and shanahan for these struggles.

Rough going...

None of the off season moves are even close to working out. I take that back, Gregor is fine. But the rest are legit disasters.

Knies has zero impact.

Kempf has taken a step back.

Jarnlrok is playing too high.

Core has been good, but they are carrying ALL the weight, and any misstep they make leads to losses since the rest of the roster does nothing.

I don't even see any real hope for this roster unless a LOT of guys start having some sort of an impact.
I feel bad for Knies. He’s expected to produce and carry a line as a rookie playing with Kampf and Domi…. Lol

WTF play some Marlies.

Being embarrassed as you learn is one thing being embarrassed as 10+ year vets is on management.

Mistakes aren't on the players. Mistakes are on management.

Did no one look at results before replacing Dubas?

Treliving has never been elite.

Leafs fans pay for elite and get leftovers.

Nope. Keep as is and right the season off.

Get a decent draft pick into the organization.

Have a full summer to figure out how to get out of some of these big contracts.

Let the 1 year rentals walk.

If he trades out of the 1st round to get out of Reeves or Kampf, I'm gonna lose my shit.
Kampf can at least play. He has zero offense, and should be a 4th liner. No real reason to pay to get rid of him.

Reeves honestly cannot play. I guess he can be a 1.3mil cheerleader for the next 3 years from the press box.

They need more out of Klingberg, Domi and Bert. They were signed to be the depth, and they are providing none of it. No idea how you fix this defence in season though.

Plus minus is a stupid stat, but its pretty easy to see the gaping holes in Kling's game.

The Leafs were still a way better team after all those moves
He had done nothing to improve it

He inherited a previous 105 point team with 3 scoring lines, shoddy defence, and a 60 game workhorse starter

He added tavares, a luxury
He made lateral moves at best on offence, improved the defence decently, got worse in goaltending a lot

Most his success came from the core 4 hitting their primes

We have no cap space for quality depth so coach should create depth lines. They should have 11 AAV players on 3 different lines running them about the same minutes.

You need to get other guys going as a coach; it is your responsibility.

They should at least try taht at home ice with last change. Keefe has to do this to get bert, domi, knies going a bit

I find it strange that Bertuzzi had no issues instantly clicking with the Bruins last year but he looks like an AHLer here so far.

I also like how freaking Shattenkirk is fitting in nicely with the Bruins this year. Seems like they can insert anyone and still have success while it's hit or miss here.

It really feels like the Leafs are going to take a big step backwards this year.

With the horrible defence and lack of scoring depth, this team is average at best

I'm talking about our blueline as a whole, it is significantly worse than last year as far as goals allowed and overall depth

JVR too. He is going to score 25 goals there.

It was bound to happen eventually, no team is continually on an upward trajectory

You just admitted that Dubas "failed" in Toronto so why the heck are you so obsessed with the guy?

You were literally one of if not the most active posters on this forum and now you basically only show up when the team loses and are first to start the post game thread to thrown some negativity towards the new GM.
Oh please, there were lots of Lou fans who wouldn't stop obsessing over him and still do, so don't get mad if someone does it for Dubas.
I'm not obsessed with him. There were many people who thought Dubas was so bad, then any replacement would be good, well see the result

The 2nd paragraph is strawman. I'm still active, but if you want people defending the GM for his awful moves, then there are plenty.
Anyways Shanny needs to be fired. He got a yes man for the GM job.

Much different depth to the roster this year than last year

your right Engvall/Kerfoot/Bunting had a total of 11 points after 11 games Domi/Knies/Bertuzzi have 11 aswell. Jarnkrok/Kampf are pretty much still here. Giordano was in our top 4 at this point last year, and we were using Mete and Kral in our top 6 at this point last season.

It was not hard to find depth and cap this offseason...

Domi - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Knies - Holmberg - Jarnkrok
Gregor - Kampf - Lafferty

Rielly - Brodie
McCabe - Liljegren
Gio - Timmins

Samsanov
Woll

I honestly think this team would perform better and you have an extra 9 million to work with... we had cap we just spent it wrong.

Can we but out Klingberg or waive him and send him to the minors .
He is cooked as an NHL player.

It might be what the leafs need. Get a high draft pick, forced to be sellers at the deadline and break up the core 4.

If you believe this problem only started now then you are also a moron. Go take a look at what the bottom six was to start last season, it was no better. They also started like shit the last two seasons. It is a bigger problem

it was absolutely better last season, not even close. And they didn't have a defender like klingberg back there either. Holl was better.

Oh when you’re that bad defensively and you’re constantly an overwhelmingly minus player then there’s not much smoke and mirrors going on there
