Forget Bruce. bring in Torts who isnt afraid to make example of players

If you want Matthews out of town in a hurry than Torts is your guy, he will not under any circumstances allow a SS to take a shift off. If you thought Ronnie liked using the wheels of the bus on the players just wait'll you get a load of Whisperin' John. As I recall LeaFland wouldn't tolerate it from Wilson, in fact I would say they have a real sensitivity to the "blue meanie" types, it would turn into a major clusterbang in a hurry with Torts.

It was pointed out on TSN last night post game that Leafs have scored 3 or less goals in their first 5 games which is their lowest offensive production to start a season since 2003 which was in the pre-Salary Cap era NHL.
Wow is that what happened in the past? Wel paint me green and call me bud!

It happens. No players are perfect and expecting them to be is ridiculous. He and Nylander have been our best players so far and I think going after tham isn't the thing to do. Going aftr the guys who haven't been playing well is what needs to be done. At least those two guys are playing with urgency out there. It's something Marner and Tavares needs to start showing.

Pathetic

SJ had every reason to lose this game, b2b and 3 games in 4 nights away from home

Sure San Jose who finished near the bottom of last years standings is off to a 4-0 start on the year, but in all fairness they have only played Canadian based teams to date and we all know the strength of the Canadian North div was not all that strong.

Leafs are at .500 now finding the going a lot tougher against USA based teams like NYR and SJ then they did last year. Montreal who beat the Leafs in last year playoffs are off to 0-5 start also losing to SJ and NYR early on also.

Leafs are going to need to play a lot better, because their QofC this year as we return to normalcy of a 82 game season and playing everyone again will require a better effort overall.

I feel like it starts from management. They don't respect or fear Dubas. The culture here was completely different with Lou around. These guys bullied him into getting their ridiculous contracts and pretty much run the show. When I watch this team it feels like Matthews/Marner own the team and are in charge. I don't get that feeling that this is Keefe's team, or that this is Dubas' team. I think they legitimately feel like they run the team and are untouchable and it just pisses me the f*** off.

If anything management should be on Marners ass, but instead they caved into his demands. He's a hometown kid who WANTS to play for Toronto. Remind him that it is a privilege to play for this team, and if he refuses to play with maximum effort, he can be traded. When he's on his game he looks like the best player in the world, problem is he decides when he feels like trying and when he doesn't.

Babcock went about it the completely wrong way, but the man had a very valid point. Just executed on it very poorly.
They caved to Matthews as well if you want to be fair about it, 12+ for what? Goals, how about WINS. The thing is though it CANNOT no matter what be changed.

Obviously

I disagree. 5 years and never got past the first round so you can’t blame fans for saying wins are meaningless. Management gave their stars the money and despite all the failures they are still here.

Dubas sticking by his gums and saying I’m going down with this ship caused this. The leafs had so much talent and we’re looking like a force. Fans aren’t stupid and we can see it on the wall. Another year wasted and another year closer to our stars walking and leafs having to rebuild again.

Did you watch Keefes presser, he is defeated, he has no answers, he obviously can't motivate some of these guys into performing to their abilities. He needs to go now.

Much rather have Bruce guiding the team, just remember he got Ovi playing the full 200 feet and had a PP that was deadly.

Okay so they fire Keefe and the new coach gives them a kick in the ass. How long till they start doing it to the next coach like they did with Babcock and Keefe. It’s pretty clear there’s a pattern here.

This fan base has been mentally and emotionally abused for decades. In the last 10 years alone, there has been more than enough humiliation to justify the current sentiment of most fans.

If anything, MLSE should be thankful that the fan base has been so loyal.

Remember the Sundin teams. Those guys cares and fans would never turn on them. Fans loved Cujo/Eddie, Tucker, Roberts, Mogilny and so many others that I’m probably missing.

Id give Keefe the next five games - two semi tough ( Pitt and Canes) followed by three easier games ( Chic, Det, Vegas) and if they cant get at least 6 points then replace him.

Too many entitled kids who did not show up for work .. Willy was still good but his weakest game of year as he was not best player on ice last night (this happens sometimes when a guy knows he is best guy on team but doesn't get played by coach like best guy - blame Keefer for that one) .. got badly out-coached .. tender was un-clutch Hutch so I guess I should have expected it .. same old issues as always a team which plays well on perimeter where it does not count .. analytics look good but hockey results don't .. anywho I told all of you guys what was going to happen this year which is why i passed on my arena sponsorship along with most of our older guy hockey gang .. and with COVID why I sold off my seats (thank god I made some $$$ this year on my seat license) .. and now seats are going unsold and Leafs are calling people like me looking to re up on sponsorship's .. it sounds like financially most of you young guns are not funding team either .. lots to say but no bucks .. truth hurts as I always say .. and much more hurt still to come folks .. this is time of year with easiest schedule where I expected team to do quite well .. oh well good news is board will eventually replace mgmt and start a retool without Mitch (it really is da only way)

When you watch this team play, do you actually feel like you're watching a team? Maybe because I watch baseball and basketball too, but this team does not look like a team. They look like a collection of players simply there to get their paycheck. What a stark difference between this team and the Raptors/Blue Jays.

I don’t know how much more obvious it needs to get…the top 4 heavy core concept has failed. Hockey is not basketball, it’s very team oriented where 2-3 guys dominating is not enough and our top guys can’t consistently even do that. We’re better off distributing money more evenly across the team. To make it worse we signed all these shorter term high salary contracts. Brutal brutal time to be a leaf fan. You can’t reward young guys who haven’t won anything that kind of salaries

I really liked the way the 2nd PP were working tonight. They looked much more dangerous.
Right?? The first unit was utterly brutal, while the second unit created high-percentage chances. Starting them as your FIRST unit is a pretty easy message to send.

Also, the fact that Spezza doesn’t have a letter on his jersey borders on criminal at this point.
