Did the Leafs generate anything beyond the breakaways? I don't recall a good chance after the JT goal.

Seemed like we barely touched the puck 5 on 5 for most of the game

There were quite a few scrambles in front of the Washington net. The Knies chance that they batted out of the air to prevent a goal. A few posts. Yeah, they generated.

Straight up better? We had the better chances 5v5.

Nylander and Tavares both had breakaways, Nylander with 2. What chances did Washington have?
Nylander line was good.

3 high danger chances for, 1 against
5 scoring chances for, 3 against
1 goal for, 0 against
XGF% 74%

They even had Holmberg who everyone thinks is an AHL player.

There are multiple players that can come out of the lineup though. Like Holmberg is legit awful and there really isn't a decent option to replace him on the 2nd line tonight. Get Holmberg, Robertson and Reaves out of the lineup and we might be getting somewhere. I am sure Greb will go as well.

surprise surprise marner reverted to the point playing with matthews on his line. Nylander said goodbye after the second braekaway.

AM + MM can't be a combo

we generated jack for most of this game too. Frustratingly boring game to watch

It's early in the season but I'd argue the Leafs two biggest games so far were Florida and and this one and they've gone 0-2.
they also beat the caps, jets and bolts twice. But yeah , they have had bad games against good teams who forecheck well. Might be a problem later.

Played shitty in 5 out of 6 periods against the caps and were pretty much even, possible playoff opponent gotta get used to this suffocating stuff now. Berube doesn’t seem to be locked into set lines so mix em up mid game

Domi, McMann and Pacioretty will be on the Leafs playoff roster. Plus, most likely, another forward.

We are laughing.

Very structured game for both teams, can’t believe Caps looked this good.

The bounce sucked but at the same time, our top guys needed to generate more chances.

This is a game where when our top guys don’t dominate, it shows our lack of depth due to injuries. McMann, Domi and Max would had helped in tight game like this one.

Knies. Matthews. Domi.
Mcmann Tavares. Marner
Patches. Minten. Nylander
Lorentz. Dewar. Reeves.

I think is our best bet. Plenty of size/speed.
Ultimately. A 3c would be ideal for Minten this year but who knows, he might be ready.

Technically we could fit naz in if he came cheap. Trouba was a bit prospect and a 4th.

Naz wouldn’t be too expensive

Washington is a big strong team. They really exploited the Leafs tonight. Stolarz was the second best goalie on the ice tonight as well.

Marner was invisible.

Caps play hard, look like a well coached team.
Leafs can’t win every night, move on to the next one.

Disappointed the lines weren't changed up tonight.

It's like Berube had an excuse to put M&M back together so now it's locked in forever again.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Marner was with Tavares again tomorrow
