But that's just awful reffing, it's sickening.

Right, the excellent effort and execution by the Caps paired with a clear inept officiating crew made that pretty easy for them.

I can’t take Holmberg and Robertson anymore. We desperately need secondary offence and these two have completely failed to provide it. Just out for a skate every night making stupid mistakes, taking awful penalties, and flubbing on numerous offensive chances.

They have been absolutely horrendous. Both of them need to sit when 2 of Patches/McMann/Domi return.

Leafs didn't really play great against two basement teams earlier this week and it caught up with them vs a legitimate team

I thought we battled hard. Got some bad luck. Tough game to play in as the checking was super tight. We need a couple/three legit NHL'ers back in the line up super soon. Yeah the 1st line was fairly pedestrian; when they get shut down, trouble ensues without a legit 3 lines.

Washington did enough to deserve to win and Toronto did enough (or lack of) to deserve to lose, but sometimes good teams just grind it out for a point. If they get lucky they grind out 2.

It's really irritating to lose on a goal that the ref assisted on after a non-call on a blatant penalty. Especially considering the soft crap they called on Toronto just prior.

It's early in the season but I'd argue the Leafs two biggest games so far were Florida and and this one and they've gone 0-2.

Sh**ty effort but it's almost to be expected some games, really feeling the effects of all these injuries for this long, so you plough it out despite getting outplayed and the reffing just bites you in the arse again. I wish I didn't like this team and I could just leave this joke league to itself forever.

To be fair, it was terrible while they were healthy too... Domi getting back and hopefully producing would go a long way, he can either shift everyone down and we would have a legit scoring threat on line 3, or he can produce himself on line 3.

With Patches supposedly back tomorrow and more guys getting healthy soon after there's a non-zero chance that was the last game Robertson plays for this team. Was basically benched in the 3rd.

Did the Leafs generate anything beyond the breakaways? I don't recall a good chance after the JT goal.

Seemed like we barely touched the puck 5 on 5 for most of the game
