The more I think about this game, the more I have to blame the coaching staff. Benching Galchenyuk, Engvall, and Brooks all who have played well recently. Nash didn't do squat. Thornton has been struggling for a while now. What was up with replacing Rielly with Sandin? Yeah it sucks that JT was injured, but we would have won anyway with better decisions from the coach.
thats kind of the point of nash..not 1 goal was scored when he was on the ice last year when we played columbus. we need our big boys to score. nash will be needed way more than any of those guys if we wanna go deep imo.

An utterly depressing loss. On all fronts.

What's worse is the realization that we are again up against a superior goalie and defence. Without the pushback to make goals happen.

Yet another cold lesson that the regular season is irrelevant.

Remember when Ottawa used to own us regular season and in playoff we would kill them ?

Tampa Bay: 3 GP, 13 Goals
Florida: 3 GP, 11 Goals
Pittsburgh: 3 GP, 10 Goals
New York: 3 GP, 9 Goals
Colorado: 2 GP, 10 Goals
Carolina: 2 GP, 8 Goals

I'm watching really good, offensively minded teams score at will and put up all kinds of points. I expect nothing less of The Leafs!

The first 4 teams played each other and have been disasters defensively. Tons of sloppy plays and mistakes which will kill them if it continues. In fact, if it wasn't for both teams being guilty of it, it would be a slaughter fest for one team.

We were sloppier than Montreal today and we still gave up few good opportunities against. Montreal played about as well as they could have and still were not very good.

Players like Nash are being phased out. There's a reason why Columbus isn't in the platoffs, they have too mnay Nash types of players
He's garbage

We took on other teams garbage, team hasn't wasn't going anywhere

If Montreal's clicking on the PP were morning this game. This wasn't Montreal's best, but it was a game they dictated the pace of.

If we continue to play low event games like tonight we're not looking good down a big player in Tavares.

Montreal is awful and Price has been washed up for nearly half a decade.

This team is just not mentally up to par, no matter how bad the opposition is. Columbus and now Montreal? Hilarious.

Go to bed you have no idea what you are talking about.

I liked Folingo Campbell and Nylander this game.

And I think Matthews and Marner are going to eviscerate the Habs next game regardless on their own

they better.

Marner had over 27 mins of ice time tonight.

If neither of them can actually produce, this is a short series.

It doesn't matter who wins this series. After watching some of the other series neither of these two teams has what it takes

We have watched playoff hockey for decades. You can pick a few series where one team is dominant. The rest are never a cakewalk.

The hits in the game were Montreal 55 and the Leafs 27.

I thought the physicality toned down after the Tavares injury as it took a lot of bite out of the game due to that unfortunate incident.

This team is gutless.

Come in, make yourselves at home, injure our captain, oh here take our wives and girlfriends as well.

They wilted like this last year when Muzzin was injured 'by accident'.

These guys need to stop feeling sorry for themselves and get angry.

the reason they missed the playoffs is they traded away their number one center, and replaced him with laine, their defensive play went into the toilet (28th in nhl in gaa vs 3rd a year ago) and their talent is abysmal. has nothing to do with foligno.

I'm all for possession style hockey but you need to be doing something with that possession. Running down the clock turning the game into a coin flip is exactly what teams like Montreal want. Need a lot more urgency with the puck even if means turning it over more often.

I have No Be-leaf…we’ll win a couple games, that’s probably it

Its the Leafs man...

they will be on the brink of elimination and force Game 7;

Will give the fans false hope, lead in game 7 and then choke away the lead to lose in 7 games.

Thats the Leaf way

Go to bed you have no idea what you are talking about.

Carey Price has managed to have a SV% of .910 or better once over the course of the last four years.

Montreal finished 18th in a 31 team league, in the weakest division and would have been on the outside looking in under normal circumstances. They ranked a relatively poor 18th in the NHL this Season in goals against average.

Tell me more about the Habs elite goaltending and defense, since you're clearly so knowledgeable.
