Keefe played Marner : 27:23 almost 1/2 the game and that doesn't include the 2 minutes he was in the box or he would have been out more and other than his one scoring change that was a below average game overall.

He only gave Nylander 16:40 and I thought he was more effective tonight not only because he scored the goal, but had better looks at the net and made some better decisions with the puck.

Thinking Sandin was the answer to Leafs struggling PP, for a player with no playoff experience and hardly played even in the regular season was a head-scratcher and game changer but for the other team is it turned out.

I feared going into this series that Keefe was the weakest link on a deep talented team, and some of his coaching decisions (rather mistakes) were questionable and cost the Leafs the game.

How much of Marner ice time was ok the PK? Almost 4 mins but yeah Nylander was more dangerous tonight and should have gotten a few more shifts.

Don’t panic it’s organic.

We’’ll regroup like good teams do.

Give Montreal credit, they brought the street fight mentality from puck drop.

Sandin won't be an NHL regular unless he gets a serious upgrade in his skating. He's out worst skater on D with Bogosian who was supposed to be way worse according to everyone but Bogosian look like the faster skater, idk i never saw the hype with him.

Dermott is our best Skater on D, that play never happens with dermott although its Thornton who played those goals right to MTL.

Thornton was always a big choker in the playoffs, time for him to understand you cant make the stupid play and expect to get icetime.

Stay in your lane. Don’t disrespect those who have helped build and keep this forum what it is.
You stay in yours. Quoting Conor doesn't make you cool. Emotionally charged condescending hot takes year over year don't either. There's tons of great posters on this forum. I wouldn't credit those 2 for keeping and building this forum or whatever. I'm guessing you're an alt.

Keefe really made some strange decisions, and unfortunately, not for the first time. Dermott plays all season and you take him out for Sandin? Thornton on the PP makes no sense. Top line on for over 4 mins at the end. Dunno what it is with him, but some strange choices.

He got outcoached by a junior coach. This was without a doubt one of the worst in game management we have seen from Keefe. He put the team in some precarious spots...

Yes, the players have to get it done on the ice, but the coach is responsible for putting them in a position to succeed... I didn't feel that was the case tonight. He'll learn from it.

Not trying to beat up on Sandin as I love his upside. He can’t pivot and reach top speed well. Everything else I love his upside. Rielly has great skating/recovery speed.

Yeah, like Rielly, Sandin was also passing up shots from the point...and then didn't have the speed to catch Byron on the shorty. I guess Keefe had seen enough and put Rielly back on the #1 unit on the Leafs' last PP.

He is 21. He is going to be good. Right now, he should not be in the NHL on a playoff team. Especially not over Dermott. Dermott brings everything Sandin brings right now with a more refined defensive game.

I think he was tired on that SH goal against, but at the same time I have no idea why they are double shifting him on the PP when you have Rielly on the bench. And he totally whiffed on that poke check on Byron. Even if you are tired and trip the guy up, at least get the puck.

Listening to Foligno post game... This guys mentality is huge for the team.

We're winning the next game and the series.

It can be his team all they want, they just lost a first line C and big offensive threat in a series where they'll need offense
It's not good at all. But....I still think AM is hiding a gear we haven't seen yet.

Sort of had a feeling we might lose once JT was hurt. It rattled them. Not gunna lose any sleep over the loss. Still think the boys will win in 5 or 6.
Winning a series for the first time in years is not going to be without a few stumbles. It may even go 7 but if they come out the other side they will finally be able to play without a monkey on their back.

In the Washington, and two Boston series they were the underdog going into each series. Were you expecting them to get the upset? That's pretty unreasonable and not fair on your part.

This is the first time they have been the favorites in a series in like 20 years, and played one game.
do teams that eventually go on to win cups ever exceed expectations when they are the underdog? I don't think they were much of an underdog to Boston or Columbus. Boston had lost plenty before that first series against the Leafs and either team could establish their identity.

I'm not saying they won't win but delusional fans blow things out of proporiton and unreasonably overrate the team so much each and every year and I don't see how that doesn't just put unnecessary pressure

The Leafs seem to always find a way to surprise even the most harshest of critics.

Here's hoping this series and playoffs are different.
