Why is everyone talking about 41 year old Thornton and not the fact that our top line didn't do anything

Matthews hit a post. Marner actually had some decent chances too but also decided to hold on to the puck too long, skating slowly as if nobody was skating up behind him instead of taking it to the net hard or shooting quickly. He's not the only Leafs forward who did that.

Correction!

- In the playoffs when there is no time and space you cannot make the "fancy" plays or enter zone easily uncontested. Because everybody is dialed in.

- Leafs core cannot navigate clogged netural zone and no time/space in teh playoffs and make plays in tight spaces and execute.

- Most of the folks that post here praising the leafs players do not seem to watch other hockey teams


A good example is the Canes. Relatively young core but they don't take shit from other teams, play hard, get hit and give hits. Don't throw the puck away to avoid hits.

Heck look at when Hawks went on cup runs their core was relatively younger too but didn't play scared hockey or pout when things didnt go well.

Other team isn't going to bend over and give you wins. You gotta earn your wins

Agree with this. Brooks and Spezza were great together. Engvall's speed and size make for a great third line checker. Instead, we watch Joe Thornton demonstrating why he has never won a cup.

Well, Sandin stopped skating about 1-2 strides (Byron's strides) before diving for the puck...it's really hard to be fast when you stop skating.

That goal was more on Matthews and Thornton. Also on whoever the power play coach is.

I'd say the goal was on the coaching staff because that should have been Morgan Rielly who was having a fantastic game. Majorly bad call.

I ain't adding anymore to that sire.......................... I told about it before the playoffs. So many times. The sharsks knew this. WHY DIDn'T THE SHARKS PLAY THORNTON ON THE FIRST PP UNIT FOR 1.5 years??? They did, rarely. But that wasn't thornton's role even with the weaker sharks anymore. And now we trying to put him there for life. That is so weak mayne. So weak. Use him elsewhere. He is KEY. But NOT THERE. NOT THERE.
