Rielly needs to be taken off the top PP. He turns it over far to often and can't get his shots through. Put Marner up top with Matthews and Tavares or Willy on the half walls.

Thornton should not be getting ice time. He's too slow and can't keep up, it just keeps getting wore the more the season goes on. Hopefully he's pulled from the lineup when the new guys come in.

Nobody likes losing to the Habs, but shit happens. They came ready to play and Toronto didn't get off the bus in the first period. Pretty even contest the rest of the way.

Some greasy missed chances by Matthews, Hyman, Matthews, Spezza and Galchnyuk in high danger areas. Some equally blown chances by the likes of Anderson and Suzuki.

On to the next one.

You can’t win them all and maybe this is a good lesson for the team not to get complacent esp since all the post TDL talks with Leafs will win the division and only TB can challenge them.....
Beside, the last three games(including this one), the defence is not as tight as before, maybe a loss is good for them.

The PP needs to sort it’s shit out fast though. They look like they’re being overcoached.

Leafs were moving their feet on the PP after gaining the zone; now all they do is gain the zone hurry up the cross ice pass and out the zone they go

A well deserved loss. The deadline passes and they let their hair down?

Warning to the Leafs, this type of stifling, collapse and clog the front, interfere with our forwards is the way the Habs will play us if we meet in the playoffs. They have two other D on the way who will do the same.

They are going to have to find their PP and their drive and not let them lull the team to sleep with quicksand hockey.

a nice team worst 12.8 xGF% for Thornton, worst on the team. Made sense to reward him by putting him on the top line, making him the extra attacker, and keeping him on the top PP unit. Coaching decisions simply can't be that stupid if you want to win games against good teams

That was Thornton's worst game by far. Same with Engvall. Too bad because Simmonds and Robertson actually looked promising together if it was not for Engvall.

Wasn't particularly clean by anyone though. The Tavares line looked really good again. Dermott had another really good game, which is like 5 in a row for him. Bogosian made some bad plays but he was mostly solid too. That's about it.

The rest of the time the team was just way too sloppy.

Jets lost, so they don’t gain any ground.

Reilly is really starting to turn into Jake Gardiner right before our eyes. He is terrible on the PP, soft in his own zone and can't play a 2 on 1 if Nick Lidstrom show him 1000 times how to do it.

Time to give Thornton a few games here and there in the pressbox to give him rest. Get him ready for the playoffs. It's Ron Hainsey all over again....playing in so much in the regular season that it burned him out for the playoffs.

Like other said when teams clog up the neutral zone they can't generate much offense.

I would argue that Gardiner never made this many mistakes during his tenure here. Save to say that Mo's 20G 70pt season was a fluke.
