Post-Game Talk: Leafs lose in OT 4-3

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
We need someone like Tortorella. This team is way too soft, mentally more than physically. Toughen them up or out the door. Everyone is too complacent. Hopefully something is done because this is beyond embarrassing for everyone.

Pathetic

Boys with no pride pretending to be men

Get rid of them all from management on down, I couldn't care less anymore

Other than one Montreal-like Cinderella run to the SC Final on the back of Brodeur, he only made it out of the first round twice in the Salary Cap era before leaving for the Islanders, and both of those times were SF losses.

Then he made the CF twice with the Islanders, once again mostly on the back of goaltending.

He definitely knows how to pick goalies, but he didn't really construct true Cup-contending teams under a Cup. They've had more holes in them than the Leafs' rosters.
Let’s stop the Lou Vs Dubas debate.
Let’s say Dubas is better than Lou, what is the records with Dubas’s Leafs in the playoffs?
The point is not to be better than previous GMs, it is to be the GM that construct a Cup winning Team. Dubas has not done that, heck, his team haven’t even win a playoff round.
I could careless if Lou wins the Cup with whatever teams as long as Dubas’s Leafs win the Cup.

No, I think it has more to do with Toronto Sports media being perpetually negative and getting the fanbase to buy it. Negativity sells. That's why they do it. People as a whole general sense just cannot think for themselves.

It's why Kerfoot is so hated right now for no particular reason. It's a bunch of bleating.
Does the media even know Kerfoot exists? Rarely hear his name mentioned. Does TNT, ESPN and the NHL Network also try to sell negativity? I think it’s mostly fair analysis when Dubas’ work is critiqued. To date he’s been a failure.

Mitch Marner can go f*** himself along with his toxic father and posse around him and the culture he has brought to this team. William Nylander has been ragged on for years and years by fans and media, has had to endure tons of disgusting and xenophobic comments and is constantly the whipping boy yet he never complains and just comes out and plays. Nylander has played through adversity better than any of the other core guys have, and even tonight despite being the team's best player so far he had to be the one demoted to his unnatural position to 'balance' the lineup and delivered two assists in the process.. He played far less than the other core guys did but do you see him throwing a tantrum? No. Marner gets benched for a shift and his whole world comes crashing down. f*** this kid

Just that fact kinda blows up your narrative :)

If winning 6 rounds is irrelevant....wtf is not winning 1? LOL

Ah yes. The narrative that Lou is this god like figure of nothing but winning. All that winning he's done since 2003. So much winning Donald Trump would blush.

My point is, we need to stop painting Lou like he was some sort of saviour. He did nothing of note in Toronto. He has done nothing of note in New York and he largely did nothing of note in New Jersey since the lockout of 2005.

It's actually kind of funny at this point.

I won't have to suffer a 1st round game 7 exit this year

Keefe played Nylander 15 seconds more than Engvall tonight. Theres a lot of things within his control he's screwing up.
I don't understand that at all.

After the first period it was very clear that the Nylander line was our best. So Keefe gives them less ice time in the second, and virtually benches both Robertson and Malgin in the third, to stick Willy back with JT.

It's almost as though he was trying to lose. Either that, or he got orders from above.

I thought JT had one of his best games at ES this year, despite getting trapped in our end a few times.

They really have to separate those two.

I said it on another thread a few days ago, when do MGT knows and understands the players they are betting on just ain’t the right players.

Truthfully missing the playoffs and getting a high draft pick would be the best thing for this group. If we make it in and lose in round 2 everything will remain status quo.

2 semi-finals is of note.
Looks like he may finish ahead of Dubas again this year.

Is anyone enjoying this more than Mike Babcock right now?

Trying to keep it above the line, but it just feels so damn bleak right now, in a way I don't remember feeling since the dark days after Sundin left.

It feels like everyone is just waiting for something to happen, but I can't think of one simple thing happening that will right this.

It looks like each and every player is struggling with their confidence in themselves and each other, and have forgotten how to play basic, simple hockey. It's really mind-boggling to see, to be honest.

It's pretty hard to watch this right now, as it really doesn't feel like there is an easy solution. :(
