The core has shown us who they are, Keefe has gotten what he can out of them. A new coach won’t change that right now.
Time to let the core show why Dubas clings to them (spoiler alert, they’ll fail), and make the management and roster changes in the off-season. Keep all picks and prospects and go from there.
A big trade now won’t fix things. And a new coach won’t fix this specific group right now either. It starts at the top and if the core players aren’t leading the way the team us screwed. You’ll lose a reaction trade right now anyway.

Shanahan is the one that needs to be fired. This has been his ship for far too long and it's been bungled all the way along. Let a new president try and build a winner.
Cant see it happening now, theyll wait until the new year to see if the ship is righted. If not, then Dubas will likely go
Oh its not good right now, but I also realize its early. It's a long season. This hyperbolic narrative that this team was dead before the season started was irritating october 1st and its irritating now. The team will be fine. They will make the playoffs. They will likely lose in the 1st round. And Dubas will be gone. As is tradition.

I want to fire Keefe but don’t want the message to be mixed like the organization came down on Marner’s side in this player coach drama.
Not sure who is going to do the fixing but Marner is a problem and don’t want there to be any ambiguity that he won’t be a target. At least that’s the way I’d handle it.
its amazing shanahan is still employed after 9 yrs of not a single playoff Rd win, couldn’t even get a bo5 playin win either. Shanahan must have dirt on MLSE

I dont think he asked Marner to throw it away for 2 goals or for the first line to play like dog shit all year

I think the hate for Marner is becoming a bit much. He is a 97 point player in 72 games. That's a 110 point pace guy. Maintaining superstar form over 82 games is hard.
Marner-Matthews are out of form but they aren't the problem. Their stock will rise soon. Keefe hasn't shown me anything though.

I found a positive. Flyers play the Rangers Tuesday night so they’ll be tired on Wednesday while the Leafs will be fresh and ready to go.
I wouldnt be worried about optics. The new coach basically has to turn things around and win or the core changes.

Slow, small and prone to getting counter rushed on the blueline. Don’t find him a compelling package as a defenseman at all. The contract talks didn’t help that perception.

Maybe, but the excuses this year don’t seem as legit. Last year, Matthews was injured, bunting was newly added, mikheyev injured, and yet they still scored goals and had good possession numbers
This year, they can’t dominate anyone, possession numbers suck, 4 goals is impossible. Marner and Matthews just feel off, yea it could change, but it doesn’t seem like it will, they seem like they’ll turn the corner one minute only to flub it like we saw with those 2 gaffs.
Simply put, Nylander and Tavares are not talented enough to carry any team to the playoffs
Tonight I thought the effort was there but they didn’t look like the better team which is not a good sign. Ducks looked faster and were back checking better. The Leafs aren’t that good. “Run it back“ Dubas has ruined the promising hand he was dealt.
