Trading any of the Big 5 would only happen with a new GM. Dubas has said he is sticking with the core no matter what.

They lost the last 2 games in a best of 7.

They sure did. But having best regular season is not running the team into the ground. Nonis did that. I was there for that era. This is nowhere close. Lets not act like itis and run around like chickens with our heads cut off...which is unfortunately what this Leafs media has done to everyone.

It's gotten worse over time too. Instead of protecting his stars on the ice he coddled them off of it. He had one job.

When Dubas was innitially hired everyone was hoping he'd be some kind of wizard but with each passing game he's looking more and more like a total fraud and that this whole thing was a grift.

I bought into it for awhile until it became pretty obvious he had trouble consistently building functional and well balanced teams.

This game's blame, is squarely on what are supposed to be High IQ hockey players, making low IQ plays. Marner twice, and then WTF was Tavares thinking with that pass out front of his own net, leading to a turnover, and tie game. Comically bad play from these "elite" players. Even Matthews, I'm not sure what to say, as he looks to be in controller disconnect mode half the time.

Keefe should quit, forget about being fired, he must be so frustrated with these guys. You can see he's trying to have some accountability, and is frustrated.. but to no avail. I'm not saying the Leafs are an elite team, but we've certainly seen that the main players in question, are capable of playing hockey well above the level that they are currently doing.

Clearly changes will be coming to this team in some format, as the way they've been playing is a complete joke. Again, I don't see how that is Keefe, or Dubas's fault.. and I don't think these losses are on them... but those will be the first guys to fall. It's just the way of things.

But these players should be embarrassed by their play.

Keefe is most definitely part of conversations when it comes to players. That was shown in the Amazon series. Dubas and Keefe are best of pals, they speak all the time. I wouldn't feel bad.

He's not blameless but ultimately guys like Marner at this point shouldn't need motivating to do their jobs.

Shanahan has no business calling any shots on this. He's as much to blame for any perceived issues stemming from management as anyone. He's one of the most day to day involved executives we've seen imo
