I also never want to hear Matthews compared to McDavid ever again. McDavid turned it up in this year's playoffs and dragged his dogwater team to the second round while Drai played like ass. Matthews played alright but did not turn it up in the slightest and was a no-show in game 7 in comparison.
I'd never like to hear that Tampa Bay Lightning is compared to Los Angeles Kings. I understand your point quite well, but if you compare rosters, it wasn't same to play against Lightning than playing against Kings. It isn't always fair and you play who you play, but straight comparison in this case is just unnecessary. If we next year win Red Wings 4-3 and Oilers lose to Avalanche 4-3, which player had better chance to shine?

I sure hope Matthews finds yet another gear, that he can dominate anyone anytime, but it usually comes with experience. Players like Crosby are anomaly and McDavid is closest to him yet.

Leafs the only team who couldn't finish game 7 at home. How fitting lol

Game 7 at home the "Stars" of the team showed up to play

Rangers: Zibanejad, Panarin
Oilers: McJesus
Canes: acquired depth showed up "Domi"
Flames: Johnny Hockey, Tkachuck

Leafs: ....

Yup!

Meanwhile the GM of this godforsaken team went to extra lengths to protect Kerfoot and Holl

Kerfoot: moronic plays in game 6
Holl: Gift wraps OT goal to point allowing him to walk in uncontested

True Leafs fans should be absolutely pissed off and demand -> Change.

Took a peak at HFBolts and the topic in their HTD from game 7 is Leaf fans. You would think that fans of a team gunning for a three peat would behave better than this.

Pathetic. They are just throwing us under the bus.

They should be glad they got to play the Leafs. Fans around the league actually got to find out Tampa won the cup last year.
Okay, but why even care? It would probably do you good to be less obsessive over other fanbases obsessing over the Leafs.

I won't lament the fact that the team was poorly constructed from the get-go but the biggest problem I saw all series was no single adaptation (minus game 5) for changing the PP around. The Bolts were laughing at the fact that Rielly was QBing the PP. He has no shot so they just collapsed low on the shooters and in front of the net and the PP became a non-factor.
We controlled play on 5v5 most series. You don't control the play with badly constructed team. You hang on and hope for the best if your team isn't good enough. Our PP was badly coached and I think it's on Keefe.

He had this same stubborness on Canadiens series, where he didn't want to coach against Ducharme rather than wanted to control the play and roll the lines way he wanted. That changed from last year a bit in the end of the series, when Keefe probably finally got it that Matthews shouldn't play against Point if possible.

We could have adjusted our PP and changed something, because I think that is the reason we got that PP goal in game 5. We moved players around and put Gio there. It's harder to tinker PK, but with PP you have options with our roster.

If only it weren’t for those 2 high sticking penalties in game 6… we’d be rested going into a series with Florida right now.
Do you really believe that though? This team would have found some other unique Leaf way to blow it I am sure. A deflection off the stanchen and Holls ass into the net with 5 seconds left on a dump in sounds about right.

That PP is puzzling me, since we have all the pieces in the world. I have seen it tens of times that skilled players have some set play they decide to utilize when it matters and surprise the PK. We play 7 games against one team and try to do same thing over and over and over again.

Well this team didn't have that same panic mode our previous teams had. Both games were one goal games and if Nylander had scored from that breakaway Tampa couldn't have utilized their trap they did after they got the lead. Same with that game 6, they would have opened up in the end and it would have been grind till the end. That phantom call prevented it, but that's hockey it's one bounce that can decide.

GWG in game 7, one infraction that goes uncalled and Nick Paul bounces puck in like it's a superball. Scores.

The thing that is hard to grasp to me is that you should get those good bounces at least once by pure luck in one of these 10 elimination games, still we can't get it once. Like it's a curse, which it isn't.

Lol Tampa isn't threepeating. Point is out and even if he wasn't Colorado, Carolina, and Florida are all teams who can beat Tampa. Leafs just aren't that good in the clutch. Those others teams aren't soft like the Leafs.
Bruins was shell of previous dominating Bruins teams and still Canes played 7 games against them. Carolina is good team, but they aren't some dominating force. Panthers if they figure it out or Colorado will challenge for the cup.

Should we consider trading Auston?? I’m not sure if he has the “it” factor that this team desperately needs to get over the hump. Might be worth to pick up extra assets by blowing this thing up. Let me know what you think
Get Laine, he is better

I was in shock when the Leafs would not shoot until Game 5,when the fans started yelling "Shoot",then it led to a win.
All I could picture after that for some reason was Cherry saying the same thing much earlier during this series.
Bowen, and Ralph were saying it a lot.Cuthbert was not.
Its the same story every year...we dont shoot it enough, and our d gives the puck away in our own zone.
Those not being fixed is on the coach, and players.

How is a defensman supposed to do their job if "getting in the way" of opposing players is "interference"?
You can't interfere player without the puck... You can chase, hit and try to all kinds of things when player carries puck. When he doesn't you can't do that. It gets called 100/100 times on offensive zone. Sure there is blocks that happen on neutral zone that doens't result penalty. Like trip or hook. But when you interfere or trip a player when there is scoring chance it's always called.

And it wasn't even a goal. Whisle have already blown play dead.

And lol to people who called that minor... Holl's pick resulted Tavares to have free line and time to put his shot.

When you cheer for the franchise with the biggest fanbase and a talented team but who continuously choke in the opening round of the playoffs that they ended up setting the record across multiple NA sports, this things should be expected, the Leafs brought this to themselves and to their fans.

According to Amy Lawrence Leafs are only team in history of NHL, NBA, and MBL (there may be more) to lose 5 consecutive win-or-go-home series ending games. I believe the PP is also 0/18 in those games.

Something that I think virtually no one acknowledges about Tampa: they conserved themselves during significant stretches of this round. They played just as well as they needed to play to win the round. The Leafs didn't get manhandled by an aggressive desperate opponent, they got beat by a measured effort by an experienced team that didn't go all for the opening round of the playoffs. Tampa lost zero players to attrition in the 1st round (it appears). Several games were regular season level of intensity. I'm convinced Tampa had way more in the (intensity/competitve) tank that the Leafs didn't force them to use. IMO, this wasn't the close miss it appears it was.

And a new avatar just dropped:

Your right they just let the Leafs take the lead in game 6 going into the third, they knew they had that 5 on 3 power play coming.

I didn't compare the two. You did.

All I said is that we can't kick the Oilers anymore because they actually won a playoff round (excludes 2006 as well).
Cool maybe you should join the Oilers board then? Since you seem like such a fan

I said a long time ago, Kyle Dubas has divided the fanbase. Who's right and who's wrong? Who knows. But he orchestrated the divide.
And world is flat and birds aren't real too right? Lol
Love or hate dubas, this "divide" thing has been ongoing for a while now in the world, with EVERYTHING. It's pathetic. But this is veering on political so I'll stop.

I'm down for whatever to make changes. Fire this guy, keep that guy, whatever. I'm not attached to anyone. If trading one of our core players makes us better and we win, do it. Just don't f*** it up and let it make us worse

Go Leafs go!

The post you quoted is actually so mind numbingly stupid lol.

"Hey guys, our team lost because we didn't listen to grandpa Boomer who has something very special to say to all those people who aren't from around these parts".

100% sold.
Don Cherry isn't a boomer, a boomer is someone born between 1945 and 1965 and he was born in 1934. I know a small technicality, anyway he's very knowledgeable and I respect him.
