Morgan Rielly just came back from injury, give him a break.

No lol, he made the same giveaway on the boards that he makes dozens of times a season when he's healthy, by the time the Crouse is 5 feet from the net to make the pass Rielly still hasn't even reached the hash marks lol. There's two wingers that are in significantly better defensive positions than he is. He doesn't change who he is when he's healthy, he just gets more looks on his pinches. These simple mistakes still happen regularly.

I don't want to be the sky is falling guy.

All I am going to say though, is this goaltending needs to get figured out sooner rather than later. Both of them have been straight stinkers their last few games.

Here is the rational take on Rielly. Most of the time his positives outweigh the negatives but when they don't, it's costly.
Here is what needs to happen, shelter him and play him in the O zone. Keep his minutes in the 2nd pair to 3rd pair with mainly offensive usage. Also no Lilly and Rielly when Sandin returns.

When you think the team is turning a corner and developing some killer instinct, they remind us again what they are made of...I just hope they don't disappoint in the playoffs again.

marner and jt were so bad

jt is regressing to last year levels. even marner can't help.

if I was marner i would have told keefe to put me on a different line. tavares is a shell of himself. Marner is just being nice and still producing on average. Since marner has been his winger tavares has stopped leaking goals substantially

Yes. Murray has been a career .912 and averaged a .914 the last 5 seasons.

He had a bad night, that's all.
Did he though? The skaters left him out to dry on pretty much all those goals. Would have loved to see an extra save or two, but none of those goals make me say "oh, should have had that one".

Two PP goals against where they moved the puck at will. Two on one off a turnover. Comedy of errors to start the game (boy was that a precursor to the 3rd period).

Not sure if everyone on here is so against making moves for what’s to come because of how well weee doing but….

This team is the exact same team we have had every year for at least the last 5 seasons.
We’re relunctant to improve the roster and make hard decisions and when we get knocked out first round again that’s the only time people demand change

Will be the end of dubas unfortunatly and another year lost!!!

Because it’s normal for players to have a down year. Scoring 60 is not fcking normal. He isn’t going to do that every year. We got spoiled with his 60 goal season now we expect that every single time. It’s completely unrealistic. There’s a reason why it only happens like once every 5-10 years.
Agreed, he will not score 60 every year. Or maybe ever again. I'm not expecting him to score 60. That said, I expect him to score more than his rookie year. My only point is that at this pace, he will not and I'm not sure why this doesn't generate more conversation.

If one player causes losses than we are pretty bad to start with.
Anyways, ugly loss. Arizona brings out the worst in us. Big guys took a rest, and the first pair was a mess
Rielly isn't to blame for everything, but it doesn't help when you have a Dman playing 20+ mins a night who you can't count on defensively. On a team that has had so much success this season, he's the ONLY Dman on the team with a NEGATIVE +/- number.

Seems like both Samsonov and Murray are starting to come down to earth abit in their play and its going to be up to the defense to help out and if Rielly can't improve his defensive play its going to hurt the team long term.
