I think the word that sums up how I feel towards this team is Apathy. The decision not to play Liljegren was wrong. Put him back in and for the love of god put ROR on the third line.

Honestly if they come up lame yet again you trade AM this off-season. Let him get 13+ from some other suckers. I would look at a partial reset. Clear the decks for McDavid if possible. As much as I like Morgan Rielly he is not a first pairing D man and any player that plays with him is significantly worse.

or has he played 2C or 3C this season? or any of his Leafs seasons for that matter.

when ever i see Leafs games, especially this season, while sitting on the bench

They have a long-established history of not being able to close out and win.

I was so tempted to buy tickets for last nights game, thank god I didn’t.

I can’t even act surprised anymore. I woke up with a bunch of texts from friends laughing and making jokes about the Leafs this morning and I can’t help but just laugh along at this point.

Keefe was absolute trash last night. Tampa was suppose to be chasing the matchup game, not us but Keefe found a way for us to be chasing right from puck drop.

It’s all you can do really isn’t it? Chuckle bitterly at the same bad joke year after year. The no-shows, choking, likely player suspension upcoming again, it’s like our own personal Groundhog Day.

Honestly I haven’t given up yet, but it’s hanging by a thread.

It was being reviewed to see if it crossed the line. They said it did so he challenged for goalie interference.

Tampa scored 3 even strength goals.
Nylander was on the ice for 2 of them.

He was better than he's been most of the season, but he wasn't exactly"on" tonight.

1 power play goal, 4 total shots, 0 hits, 0 blocked shots in 16 minutes doesn't exactly scream good playoff game to me in terms of effort.

We have people like Cleetus saying that Matthews and Marner have to be better:

Matthews with 2 assists, 0 goals against, 5 hits, 1 blocked shot, 3 takeaways, 18 minutes played and:



Marner with 3 assists, 0 even strength goals against, 3 shots, 2 hits, 1 blocked shot in 22 minutes with 4:33 penalty kill.


I mean, can those players be better?
Yes.

Did they play poorly?

Not in the slightest.

Nylander had just hopped on the ice for Marner on the first goal he was on for. Nothing he can do about that.

The second one was a horrible read by Rielly and Holl who let TB in all alone on a stretch pass.

This is why people stopped worrying about +/- because it has zero context.

The difference is Samsanov has a track record of being bad and Vasi has a track record of winning Conn Smythes. It would be a miracle if we win a game or two with this goaltending.

I am not going to be concerned until we lose game 2. I like many am stunned by their performance in game 1 looking nothing like how they played all year. Of course the trolls here and on the mains going nuts with the "hahaha leafs and round 1" stuff doesn't help the temperature of our fans, but ignore them.

This is a good team that didn't play like it. Yes I am concerned they didn't show up in game 1 but maybe this is the start of a new script. They are going to hear about this the next 48 hours and one of 2 things will happen

1) They cave to the pressure and get beaten in 4 or 5 and there are major changes

2) They realize this is it and play like they can and win the series.

I am going to have faith #2 happens because there will be lots of time for freaking out over #1 after. We all know the Leafs are better than they played last night.

So we can't win game 7's, so we need to win 4 of the next 5. That includes 3 games in Tampa, with our starting goalie having pretty poor road stats. All the while getting the short end of the officiating stick.

Oh whilst also needed Kerfoot and Holl in the team at all costs.

Yes. It was dumb but that was not a goal regardless and the fact they called it a goal was a joke. If the goal line runs through the diameter of the post and the puck is wedged against the post, how could it be in.

Keefe didn't have us ready to start on time. The refs buried us again.

Bet99man sends the message... If you think as a player that you are going to win a cup on any Canadian Team, think again. Pretty clear now he is telling young top talent to move on back down to the USA.

This game is on Sheldon Keefe. And no you can't change my mind. It was absolutely bad coaching, line up decisions. Can't adjust, can't coach on the fly and can't run his bench efficiently even with last change. Cooper schooled Keefe right from the get go when Keefe was trying to play catch up and cooper already caught him off guard. Meanwhile Holl was an absolute PYLON when Tampa scored their first goal (Holl was a pylon the entire game btw).

Bottom Line: Keefe was TERRIBLE!!!! I can write an essay on how bad Keefe is. Since picture is worth a thousand words I'd do that instead of writing a novel

Totally agree Keefe is a joke out coached 3 year prior, here comes year 4 ffs no excuses Dubas, Shanahan and Keefe bye bye!

I have said this months ago, if Vasi improves his save % by .010 from last year's series, the Leafs are toasted.

One Canadian team has won a game so far, the Winnipeg Jets. Dubois 2 points and game winner.

It struck me as a bizarre quote at the time. This is not just a regular game day. It’s the playoffs. Everything has to elevate across the board as you’re entering an elite tournament against a team that has gone to the last three Stanley Cup Finals and has won two of them.

. They haven’t started almost any playoff game under Keefe on time, including the ones they actually win. The approach has consistently been easing into games or making furious rallies once they’re trailing.
