Rielly's poor defense is a huge issue.

TO couldn't pass all night, JT's goal was the result of 5 very bad passes, those passes were so bad even Ott. was confused.

AM better defensively, really?

That was a very bad Ott. team but that was a complacent Leaf team that only seems willing to expend so much energy which depends on the opposition, not the score board.

Keefe has his hands full and I think we're in for a world of hurt this year.

I thought Vesey was much better today. In the last game the only good things I noticed were his goal (lucky) and one fairly nice pass to JT before it.

He didnt score today but I noticed him in a positive way significantly more.

We also have Engvall who could get in there, he's got some size and wheels to him. Travis Boyd or Adam Brooks could each add a different element at centre if you pulled out Spezza for one of them, Boyd some offence and Brooks a good defensive presence. When Korshkov's season is done he can come in too.

Yeah, too much respect is being given to Thornton. I like him, but come on! He is getting ice time he does not deserve.

I have definitely liked his game to date, I wouldn't say it's been perfect but not detrimental

Andersen is garbage. He was awful against the Habs, awful again today, awful all of last year. Also I thought this team was supposed to be bigger, stronger, more physical ? wtf was that performance.

It is what it is. It's hard to be totally mad at the team because its not like they or any team for that matter, had much of a training camp and pre-season. That doesn't excuse them completely obviously because its not like Ottawa did either, but you have to think that if the season started in October, I doubt Ottawa would have won that game tonight. In saying that, Anderson, Matthews and Marner have to start performing better

mph well, at least I can watch the Steelers in the playoffs this weekend. Oh, wait..... :(.

Apparently, you do not do that to your "friends". What pisses me off is Shanny was overseeing all 3 negotiations.

I think he'd be a good fit on L4, especially if he could learn from Simmonds. I actually think the IDEAL lineup is:

Hyman-Matthews-Nylander
Robertson-Tavares-Marner
Vesey-Kerfoot-Mikheyev
Anderson-Brooks-Simmonds

Because then that L4 can be a defensive line for you and Anderson learns from Simmonds, but Spezza and Thornton aren't both coming out

Hell, at this rate I'd play the Tavares / Willy line even minutes with Matthews and Marner... Professional sports needs to be a meritocracy. Those guys are putting the puck in the net. There is no way they should be playing like 7-8 minutes per night less than Matthews and Marner when they're not producing points at an elite level.

Super hot take (2 game sample), but Willy and Tavares have NINE points combined through 2 games. Matthews and Marner have TWO points combined. Play the guys that are producing.
