Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander
Vesey-Thornton-Mikheyev
Robertson-Spezza-Simmonds

1st and 2nd line get about 20 minutes a night, 3rd and 4th get about 10 minutes.
When looking at that lineup, this is where I feel the GM has dismantled this team.
That's potentially the weakest group of LW in the NHL for teams not tanking.
And that center depth drops off a cliff after 2. We just have no depth now. Remember the whole Leafs come in waves and waves? Not any more

October Andersen is definitely in the house.

I like Keefe's willingness to adjust but Thornton and Vesey need to get out of the top 6.

Were in control for the first half before mentally lapsing. Which is a reoccurring theme with this core.

Marner isn't giving me any reasons to want to keep him around. Looked like an $11 million passenger.

Very frustrating loss.

Last night was inexcusable.
Losing against the worst team in our Division, in such a mind boggling way, with the team just going awol early in the second period is worrisome to say the least.
We better bounce back in a convincing fashion tonight.

We're all waiting for this team to become the powerhouse they should be and its just so disappointing seeing the same thing year after year. They continue to try and out score their problems and when they can't things look real ugly. I'm not going to pretend to know the answer, maybe we need to keep being patient. Whatever the solution is there's probably more pain coming lol.

It’s not so much the 2 games that is disappointing, it is that we are seeing the exact same thing we have seen for the last few years only at a slower pace. This is such a poorly balanced poorly constructed team it’s not funny.
If this keeps up much longer Shanny is going to have to come out of hiding and deal with it or he needs to be replaced.

I am a huge Leafs fan, but maybe we need to take a little step back. Ottawa is the worst team in our division, but they are not like the Red Wings. Ottawa is very competitive and we will not be the only team to lose to them. However, we may find out this season if we do indeed need to shake up this core.

That wasn't the worst loss in the world, though game 2 and it being against the Senators certainly helps push it in that direction. Leafs played alright offensively and applied a ton of pressure in the second period. Unfortunately, some bad goals ended up in our net and not enough ended in theirs. We saw a glimpse of that elite dominant team, but then sloppy goals ended up in our net and suddenly we're chasing the game.

October Freddy in January is no bueno. The defense is bad, but come on dude. Brodie was terrible the first half of the game but I thought he made a lot of really great defensive plays in the third. Nylander was astoundingly bad, which was very surprising and disappointing after how brilliant he was in game 1. I don't even remember Marner playing, which is somehow worse. Matthews is playing like an absolute man on fire but seems snakebitten. Tavares was great. Thanks to Vesey's dad for all he's done for the organization, but get this guy off the 2nd line.

The Sens are a deceptively strong team. They're probably still last in the division and we're still probably first, but every team is good enough to win on any given night. That game is a game that could have gone either way and we made enough mistakes and had enough bad bounces that we came out on the losing end.

Players have been dumped others acquired, no improvement.
Coaches have been changed others acquired, no improvement.
GM has been changed another acquired, no improvement.
President is next on the chopping block, or at least should be........

i don't get your issue with vesey atm

he is part of a line that is actually working

Hindsight is always 20/20. One of the mistakes we made was not signing Nylander and Marner to bridge deals.

Why isn’t the fan base calling for Keefe’s head like they did when Babcock gave more ice time to less deserving players? Oh the irony..........

ageism,,,,,,,,,Babs = old man/Neanderthal/likes his toys/a big Meanie/out dated

i LMFAO seeing certain names here begging for hyman be put back on the 1rst line and marner split from matty

After sleeping on it;

- The Thornton top line stuff needs to end. It just needs to. 3rd/4th line and PP. sure! Top line playing ~20 mins? Nooooooo

- Brodie and Rielly will be fine. A defensive pairing is very communicative based. That communication is something that takes time to build. Rough night yesterday, but they were fine against MTL.

- Freddy...... really needs more effort man. We controlled the majority of that game, but it felt whenever Ottawa came the other way and got the slightest chance, it went in. I feel like he didn’t make a single difficult save last night through the first 2.5 periods.

- I think Justin Holl has been our worst d-man so far. He looks slower for some reason. Perhaps it’s his paths to the puck or something, but he looks slow.

- Vesey has been a nice surprise. A quiet night for that line, but noticed Vesey several times in the offensive zone.

- Mitch Marner is far too quiet.

- Simmonds has been a nice addition so far.

- Kerfoot has been great. That third line has been great tbh. Even if you move Hyman up with Matthews again, keep Kerfoot at 3C. Put Simmonds on the RW.

- I really want to see Lehtonen play. Put Barabanov on the taxi squad and run 7D due to the cap space stuff if you need to.

Holl has been our worst dman and Simmonds has been a nice addition?

Okay its clear we all watch these games and come away with completely different viewpoints

I agree that you don’t touch the second line with the way they’re playing.

BUT

Marner had his best season playing with JT. JT had his best season playing with marner.
Nylander and Matthews have always been money together. I’m just sick of the way this organization is bending over and letting Marner run over them. First the contract, then his line mates.
What makes you say Marner made this decision? I've never heard that before.

maybe but

i see it like this

players lose their inner fire when they join a roster of tinkerbells

little battle/little pack and team mentality/no self sacrifice

2 games in and we have 7 players with 0 registered hits

Matty/marner/kerfoot/nylander/rielly/spez/derm

we have been out hit 65 to 26 so far
