Because a large portion of the fanbase would run through a brick wall for the management team. They'll argue till their dying breath how wonderful and delightful every move is.

They're the ones I have no sympathy for.
Ok so maybe don't say 'we' as in all Leafs fans deserve it. You're generalizing big time.

Yes you can. Regardless, I've got sympathy for about a third of our fanbase.
Love that you're acting like you're the moral compass for this fanbase and the authority on who is a real fan or not that deserves your sympathy.

Nah man. Just stating my opinion. Couldn't give a flying monkeys about your opinions Rob I'm sorry. I've read your posts and in opinion only (don't panic it's not Gospel), I put you in the brick wall category.

Well we all saw last night how much da team misses Mitch and Gio .. those 2 guys anchor our team .. our offense without Mitch was left to a few great efforts by Willy .. and our defense was atrocious without Gio .. Holl and Rielly OMG it is hard to watch some of time .. Rielly just skating around in our end picking up no one and Holl with his lack of skills .. and then throw Timmer in there and that is not an NHL defense .. Brodie can't do it on his own .. no one can .. but Gio Brodie and McCabe with Lily on form is enough .. Holl when he limits his game and gets played appropriately can get by too .. same with Rielly but he needs sheltering in his own end
Yeah well, obviously we're better with those two in the lineup. How we played last night is neither here nor there though, this team has showed a number of times just in recent weeks that they're perfectly capable of playing like crap on any given day, even with all hands on deck.

Ok, and no one cares about your opinion either and whether you hate half the fanbase, but you're here trying to convince us that we're all bad fans that aren't up to your standards.

And I highly doubt you remember any of my posts. I'm pretty neutral on Dubas and co. Had a convo the other day with a friend about how all three of Dubas, Keefe, and Shanny should go if we get bounced vs. Tampa, and I put a lot more stock into those kind of conversations compared to whatever you're reading on Twitter or HFboards.

why do you have any sympathy for our fanbase?

worry about the team. They are who we are watching...not the fanbase (thank god).
Are you even a fan if you don't have the approval of All Mod Cons?

Aren't you now being the spokesman and moral compass for the fanbase? It feels like you're being a hypocrite (imo).

You're the one saying that a third of the fanbase is bad and doesn't deserve your sympathy. I'm literally just talking about you. Bit of a difference.

You said no one cares about my opinion moments after telling me to stop generalizing big time and being the moral compass of the fanbase. It's confusing Rob. Are you saying only you should do it? Or neither of us?

Read the thread, I'm not the only person commenting on your posts here lol.

You're the only one acting this way Rob. What a productive morning for the pair of us eh?
I dunno, 6 people commented on your post in less than an hour. Don't think it's just me but whatever.

Indeed, enjoy the rest of your morning.

Marchand - a pest that gets away with most things because he knows to maintain a good relationship with the officials

Bunting - a pest that gets away with nothing and incurs problems because he insults and berates the officials

TML should employ someone that can explain this to Michael, so he can be a more effective pest.

The media microscope doesn’t help here. When a player in Toronto is good at drawing penalties, you’ve got 100 podcasts and radio shows talking about how great it is. That’s a lot of “haha, he fooled the referee” going on, and I’m sure it doesn’t sit well with them. Coming into a game knowing this particular player has a reputation for tricking referees, it shouldn’t be surprising that the referees are going to lean on the side of embellishment. They don’t want to be the next fool.

why does Montreal not have this problem?

That was painful to watch.

I hate these meaningless games at this time of year. Little to gain and everything to lose.

These games aren't meaningless quite yet, far from it. Home ice for the TB series isn't nothing and locking it in before we play TB in game 81 is very important.

We do NOT want to go into that game with home ice still up for grabs. That would make that game very important, almost like a playoff game, we play NYR in the last game which is another tough out so ... much better to have that game mean nothing, and be able to rest guys like Marner and whoever else instead of having Keefe overplay Marner the way he's been doing lately.

It's not so much about drawing penalties as it is being a pain in the ass and getting the opponent off their game. Because he has such a poor relationship with the officials, they are watching him more closely and he gets no breaks. Last night's 10 min misconduct was a perfect example of that.

Yet he just keeps yapping and Keefe keeps letting him.

Guess when his yapping is really going to really cost them?

So referees call things based on who hurts their feelings and who doesn't?

Marchand - a pest that gets away with most things because he knows to maintain a good relationship with the officials
I wasn't aware Marchand had any kind of good relationship with officiating.

This pretty much.

Same game. But one player is playing the whole game with high IQ and EQ.

Bunting is doing his best Hollywood heel performance and the refs have noticed the brashness.

We've never got those benefits - whether it was Bunting, Kadri, Domi, Tucker, Corson, etc..

Theres a lot more eyes and attention in Toronto.

It's crazy that anyone is willing to bet money on these games. A ref with hurt feelings can play a huge role in deciding the outcome with a none call.

Not to mention, Murray literally got taken out of the game by something as blatant as you can get, which was replyayed multiple times and not even a hint of a call.
Yep, I bet that had a Leaf taken out an opposing goalie like that, even as an accident, they would have received a penalty.
