That's homer talk, though, to be fair. Everybody overrates their own players and underrates players on other teams. How is Ehlers worse than Will? I think they are about equal. Schiefele is probably better than JT at this point in time.

I guess you can take it as homer talk, they are all great players on the Jets but I think our guys are just a tad bit better.

Said it before the trade deadline, Campbell has not proven he can carry the mail and play in more than 2 or 3 games in a row. Luckily Dubas was smart enought to see it and acquire Rittich, who BTW played well last night but looked like an Ayres on the only goal he gave up.

Anyone else find it odd that some are using guys that have never played a second for us, and the goalie that most posters gave up on a weeks ago as part of the reason we lost last night?

What I find odd , is the people who were piling on Andersen a few weeks ago for letting in "soft" goals are not on here saying the same thing about Campbells performance last night.

The new car smell hasn't faded on Jack yet, give it time.

While they're in a bit of a funk, would like to see Liljegren experimentally fill in for Holl who also looks like he's in a bit of a funk.

I blame the refs for giving us momentum-sapping power plays :sarcasm:
Are the Leafs allowed to decline a power play! It deprives them of scoring chances and really does kill their momentum to have stand around in a fixed formation and pass the puck around the perimeter, until it gets shot into their own end and then have to pass it backwards three or four times before they're allowed to try to carry it towards but not always over the enemy blue line. Then they have to play statues again until a shot from the outside goes off a defenceman's knee and starts the whole journey from the centre of the Earth into the attacking zone again. It's hard to watch. Especially the two-man advantages. Those are particularly cruel punishment for Leafs' Nation.

Didn't see the game until late 2nd, so I can't comment much, but he took a lot of criticism last game for a poor performance v. MTL

He's also riding an inflated save% currently nobody expects to continue. Andersen's criticism came from weeks/months/years (depending who you ask) of below mediocre play.

Campbell: 13gms, .922, 139pt pace
Hutchinson: 8gms, .919, 105pt pace
Rittich: 2gms, .911, 82pt pace
Andersen: 23gms, .897, 100pt pace

Those are all facts.
But there's much more to this than just stats. If the team in front of the goalie has a total off-day then you're just a sitting duck in net and your stats will get hammered.
Both Campbell and Andersen has been injured and that will influence their performance - although Campbell was a total beast for many straight games.
Rittich pts pace will probably improve if iced more (hopefully).

I'd rather - for now - have a Campbell/Andersen tandem than a Campbell/Hutch although the stats suggests otherwise :-)

Like your posts Zeke; although I'm not always on your page - or sharing the same agenda as you :-)

Our goalie situation is a huge question mark. I've been saying that all along, even when Campbell was piling up the wins - the sample size is just too small with him.

Here's a pool idea:
Rank our goalies in order of who will get the most starts in the playoffs. Andersen is included among the choices and though I hate to say it, so is Hutch.

What is wrong with the pp ?

It’s really smelly and it can’t score

LOL. Good that we can laugh I guess. Pretty depressing that this is so accruate though.

While they're in a bit of a funk, would like to see Liljegren experimentally fill in for Holl who also looks like he's in a bit of a funk.

Saying our PP is in a bit of a funk is like saying Thornton is a bit slower then Mikheyev.

Other then our PP and our goaltending, this team just rocks. Those are two huge issues though and unfortunately, as good as this team is in all other aspects, those issues are enough to make even getting past the 1st round something that it's hard to have a ton of confidence in at this point in time.

I think you can understand the context of one game versus a years worth of "soft" goals. Campbell was bad and everybody understands he wasn't good last night. If he had many of these games in a row or to finish the season, then this may have some merit.

People are/were understandably pretty fed up with Andersens performance this season and it doesn't take any sort of bias goggle to see he deserved a lot of the criticism.

You can file this under ‘things that shouldn’t need to be said’.

Probably in the minority here but I fully expected a comeback last night until Rittich muffed the 4th. Game was over then.

lazy passes, skating into defenders and thinking they will get out of your way, NOT trying to set up Matthews every time anyone other than him has the puck, Hyman on the PP
