Holy wall of text. Anyway, who the Leafs have in goal has nothing to do with how the Leafs' forwards don't make life difficult enough for the opposing goalie time and time again. We scored one goal last night, and go figure it was from the 4th line who caused chaos in front of Swayman.
Tell me what Boston goal was scored on the Leafs like the 4 th line for the Leafs scored? 1st 2 goals were shots with no mayham. Man you guys just don't see it how average at best the Leafs goalies have been.
Honestly folks give this a rest, your making yourselves misserable with all this overanalyzing.

Until the Leafs recieve anything short of what is constituted as hot goaltending in the playoffs they're not winning anything

Why does anyone think something like this matters? Reality matters, not some probability statistic. That stat is so far beyond meaningless that it is laughable. The scoreboard matters, nothing else.

It is moronic things like this that show how stupid allegedly advanced stats can be.

It generally shows how the game looked better than the score... This game was far closer than the score, the goaltending was the big difference, which the xG shows.

Not difficult to see that, also not useless.

Yeah, I meant "everyone" as in management, coaching etc. Should have clarified.
Obviously Matthews isn't going anywhere, or anyone else with a NMC. Until the NMC/contract expires that is.
IDK about that, my prediction at season start is Toronto losses in 5 to whomever they play. Once Toronto is eliminated, especially badly, Marner may agree to waive his NMC since it will be the last year of the contract but only to specific teams (NYR, California, etc)

I think Marner would do really well in LA

I guess my point is if we had some f***ing decent f***ing goaltending, we probably f***ing win the f***ing game right? Like if we decided to swap f***ing swayman for f***ing shitbag Sammy, we probably win that game, am I right?

At the end of the day, the Leafs had their chances, but they didn't capitalize. Tone down the stupid penalties and it becomes a much different game

You just need 1 of the first 2. Get the 2nd one

There will be an entire summer to complain about how shit our core is in the playoffs, for now I will hope they pull it together

Marner trade retain 2 mil
personally I think Marner will want to leave

We are stuck with JT
I hope your right, losing Marner and JT frees up lots of dough, Mathew’s deal isn’t that long the real problem is that stupid contract they gave Styles, the idea of eight more years of him not giving a shit infuriates me, he’s everything I loathe about a player with all the talent in the world and no heart, no bravery……..

All completely and utterly irrelevant. The scoreboard matters, nothing else.

I know what matters, but if all you do to analyze a game is look at the score, you're misinformed.

Not sure why people are even posting about things they saw last night, all that matters is the score, who cares what players did.

We’ve skipped out on goaltending far too long, I don’t see anyone disputing that and I never disputed that. I’m talking about not doing enough to take the opposing goalies eyes away. Both things are true.

I guess if you didn’t pay so much for elite talent that can’t perform in the playoffs you’d be able to afford better goaltending, cause and effect……..

When it comes to the playoffs, Marners brain is in complete shambles. He's afraid to possess the puck. He hears footsteps coming and wants to get rid of it asap,

I can't remember the exact play (was back and forth to the kitchen making a late dinner) but I really noticed that on one play last night. He went to the boards to get a puck with nobody anywhere near him, and you could literally see that he was looking over his shoulder and was overly cautious as he got to the boards. As I watched that the first thing that came into my mind was "he's scared".

We have never had one goaltender in all the years in the playoffs that stole a game for us. Too many soft back breaking goals over the years

Samsanov with lots of wins but a goals average of over 3.5 and a save percentage well below .900.
Boston both goalies with goal percentage of under 2.5 and a save percentage over .915

Not hard to figure out our weakness.
In the regular season we can out score our goalies deficiency but not when things tighten up in the playoffs.

It’s crazy to think any leafs fan would have confidence that Samsanov could lead us to a cup.

I thought Tavares could at least transition into a functional LW for us at this point, but I don't even think he can do that. Everything's too slow, his skillset is declining rapidly, he handles the puck like a tennis ball, which is usually the first sign that things are starting to go. Need to find a way to get rid of him this summer, if not, he shouldn't play any higher than the 3rd line next season.
I don't remember JT being that bad at handling the puck until this season. It's almost comical how easily he gets stripped of the puck on the half wall compared to behind the net. Does he try something different on the half wall? I don't know...but his hands were the one thing I thought would last during his contract.
