Was hoping for a game 1 like when they came guns blazing fully prepared for the playoffs like in 2022 against Tampa though I kinda expected this. We’ve been coming in out of sync and unprepared all season. Take your loss and move on

Was building a raised garden bed for half the game as I thought Leafs would poop the bed and didn't want to waste limited resources (time) watching a second rate team go through the motions.

This is really a soft, leaderless team.

not investing in this vehicle until the show they more than a regular season junior league team pretending to be NHL men.

No shows.

Leafs led all scoring chances. Every site has the Leafs leading significantly in every category except goaltending.

Natural Stat Trick

Scoring chances: 32-15 Toronto
High danger scoring chances: 16-6 Toronto

haha... honestly, I think TOR was dumb/needlessly anxious/too obsessed with hitting and being tough.

BOS took advantage of what they gave them. The first goal was on a two-on-one that really shouldn't have happened.

Then a goal on a shot that perhaps should have been stopped.

Then two PP goals on stupid and pointless penalties.

Then an EN goal.

BOS' goaltending was better (no surprise there). TOR needs to cut down on the mistakes and needs their stars to put some damn goals on the board. BOS isn't anything great. If TOR can't put these losers in their place, another team will do it without too much difficulty.

What can you say?

Nobody deserves any praise after that performance, including our coaching staff

Where's the effort? Where's the commitment? Where's the desire? Where's the leadership? Where's the mental fortitude?

That was disgusting, we're not getting dummied by Chara and Bergeron, we're getting it from guys like Charlie ******* Coyle

I thought we paid Guys like Marner, Matthews and JT top dollar to beat guys like this, woops my ******* mistake I guess expecting better than that utter crap is asking a little much

Luckily for the team they have 6 games to redeem themselves because to say I don't like this team and coaching staff very much right now would be the understatement of the century

Murray?
I would give him game 2 and make changes on the bacc end and power play Robertson (goes in if willy doesn't play ) but him and matthews switch and put lily at the point

I'd like to see Robertson on there as well for another shooting threat.

Considering that we were missing our second-best player and a head coach, not a big surprise.

Our PP isn't going to be very good as long as JT stands off to the side looking for a tip or rebound instead of trying to screen the goalie.

I can't see the difference can you see the difference?

Nothing's changed. They haven't learned a damn thing about winning yet. They just want the season over so they can go spend all that hard earned money they have.

Studying the Bruins video during intermissions last week really paid off.

They've only known since American Thanksgiving it was gonna be either Florida or Boston. They had the whole season long to get ready. All that big talk about bringing in playoff warriors with snot and this is the end result.

Meet the new Leafs same as the old Leafs.

Cowardly, nervous, and unprepared. Another embarrassment added on to the pile of embarrassments. Watching their performance tonight knowing their history it's hard to think of any outcome than another humiliating first round loss.

Every year we get to hear how different things will be only to end up not being any different at all.

Does anyone actually think this core looks forward to playoff time? I certainly don't.

In the past they've seemed downright relieved to be eliminated.

You have to want it in the playoffs. You aren't getting paid (key for the young guns), and the grit goes through the roof. Guys who are into fashion, generally aren't very gritty.

I'm serious when i say if I was doing draft interviews, I wanna know if they are fashionistas.

Even strength:
Scoring chances: 32-15 Toronto
High danger scoring chances: 16-6 Toronto
Corsi: 53-31 Toronto
Fenwick: 43-20 Toronto

All Situations:
Scoring chances: 39-21 Toronto
High danger scoring chances: 21-8 Toronto
Expected goals: 4.74 - 3.64 Toronto (empty net goal pumped Boston's expected goals quite a bit here)
But the only stats that mattered was 5-1

Yeah, it's crazy how bad goaltending can make any game look like a bad game.

This game ends 1-0 with the exact same plays and people would say we dominated them and it should have been 5-0.

If I told you before the game that:

Leafs would outshoot Boston 36-24 total. 29-15 5v5 and had many more chances than them, nearly triple the high danger chances despite getting less powerplays - you would say it was a great game.

You then find out that the goalie lets in 4 goals on 23 shots and all of a sudden what would objectively be a good game now looks like a bad game.

Not a fan of Sammy but come on, the whole team was horrible starting with the big boys.
MM was invisible, there is no drive in his game.
JT tried but he was just too slow, can’t wait to see play for another team, he just reminds me of Sedins on their last leg.
AM tried but he needed to be better considering he is not playing against Kopitar or Barkov or Bergy or Cirelli.
Keefe was horrible, why is Bert not on PP1.

Can’t blame the depth either if the top guys were pointless.

man Mccabe had the worst game Ive seen him play all year. He was very physical and punishing the other team at least but his puck handling was atrocious and dumb decision making defensively. Benoit had some struggles as well but was very physical. Lybushkin is just trash. We need Brodie in so badly and it was a terrible coaching decision to keep him out. I know he's been bad this year but common he's an experienced veteran top 4 D.

Woll, Nylander, Mcmann and Brodie being in would definitely help us a ton.

The team underperfomed in that they only scored 1 goal while having significantly more (and better) chances than Boston.

Samsonov underperformed by having the Leafs trail in the game starting from the Bruins 1st shot.

The only time the Leafs weren't losing was when Samsonov didn't face any shots. Playing from behind when the other team can just turtle and clog up the defensive zone will make it harder to score. The Leafs started the game with 2-3 great chances to score and then the first shot on net and it's in. I know it was a 2 on 1 but look at Samsonov on the save. He wasn't even close to making the save, nor did he play the 2 on 1 right. It wasn't even a good shot. He looked like he tripped and was trying to avoid the puck hitting him.

Just compare how Samsonov attempts to save shots compared to Swayman. That tap in goal they scored on Samsonov on the PP is because Samsonov only covered 10% of the net for some reason. When Matthews tried the same tap-in to Tavares on the 4 on 3 - Swayman was covering 80% of the net forcing Tavares to tip it around him and missing.

Something that was painfully obvious this game was the inability of most of the D to be able to try and exit the zone in any meaningful way other than Rielly. Need to compensate for that better next game
Most of our guys are physical but besides MO and Liljegren puck moving isn't a strength

It gets highlighted in games like that
