In all fairness Brodie has been really, really, really bad as of late. He needs to get his head back into the game. Either that or he's just cooked... I dunno.
Doesn't matter to me, he has experience, he can skate, he can make a good first pass, he's been in the show a lot. Looked like we were struggling to make a good first pass from the defensive zone today.

I've also said in the past playoffs that I thought it was a mistake we weren't playing a few inexperienced players to give them much needed experience for our future playoff games. Specifically Robertson and Liljegren. Because they wont be as helpful in future playoffs without getting the experience. Now, unlike previous playoffs... Keefe went with a huge swath of inexperienced players. Too many in my opinion. Knies, Holmberg, Robertson, Benoit, Liljegren, Bush, Mccabe.

Game 1, I would've definitely played Rielly, McCabe, Brodie, Edmundson

Then 2 of Lilj, Benoit, Bush, Gio

Going with a bunch of inexperienced, big big non skating, non-offensive defenders was a bad idea.

I was also thinking how dumb it was to see Nylander playing PK in meaningless games to end the season. Just screams of desperation, last minute coaching that is too little to late and also too high risk.

This coaching is one extreme to the next.

Still blaming Dubas is utterly pathetic, the man who brought us 100 point seasons regularly.

I was told we would be better now because we can hit - but we sure as f*** can't play hockey!

The Leafs problem is they try to imitate teams that get away with penalties. The media circus in Toronto is way too big to get away with penalties. The NHL doesn't care about growing the game in Toronto - it doesn't need to.

If you put the Leafs jersey on the current Panthers team or Tampa team the last 2 seasons - you'd have a long list of extra suspensions and penalties per game. You'd have Friedman tagging the department of player safety probably after every game.

How this soft team leads all teams in playoff suspensions and the most lopsided penalty differential in the playoffs every single year amazes me. The whistles go away in the playoffs in favour of the Leafs but double for the opposition. Remember that crosscheck to the face that Edmundson got away with when he played for Montreal - that would be a 5 minute penalty and a suspension if he did that in Toronto.

We were a 100 point team before he became GM and we're a 100 point team after he got fired. That's usually gonna happen when you have the 1st overall pick and a a few top 10 picks the seasons prior to them getting hired and after drafting a generational talent like Matthews at 1st overall. Y'all will act like this previous GM was a god and whine when other GMs haven't even had a chance to fully construct the team they want yet.

Let me tell you a small story about my friend Blair.

Blair always used to talk to me about the leafs, when I went downstairs to visit him. He was a concierge security officer. He downright loved the leafs and all the time he talked to me about how dubas etc. Ruined them.

Of course Blair was a victim of so many maple leafs failures before him. Recently he passed away due to cancer.

I know a victory in a stupid game of hockey means little in the grand scheme of things. But no one will doubt, the leafs should win and specifically they deserve to win for those that came before them.

Let's not dwell in the memory of such a kind man. But understand, the leafs will win. Simply because Blair and so many before him are still waiting for a victory 60 years in the making.

I'm done being negative, are you?

Let's give our positive vibes to the boys to win!

You cannot possibly be serious. Like honestly man, what is so badly broken in your brain?

Willy lost his AirPod in the subway again and he went looking for it. That’s why he didnt play.

I can relate to this. It’s damn frustrating losing an AirPod in the subway. Find My doesnt down there.

What's wrong with you people?

When has Nylander ever ducked a game? Or claimed to be injured and sat his ass in the stands because he couldn't be bothered?

Never, he's a nonchalant bugger but when it's time to get out there and play he plays and he usually does something positive which is more than I can say about the rest of the cretins on this team

The guys either sick or he's managed to hurt himself, ******* sucks but let's get a little perspective here

well it seems I am in the minority but it looked to me like the Leafs and Bruins were equally matched and actually in my opinion I would give the edge in play to the Leafs...I thought the Leafs were pushing pretty hard and deserved a better result, but luck is a part of the game...However the Bruins goalie seemed to almost always have his bodyparts in the right place at the right time...hopefully the Leafs won't get discouraged and just keep pushing.

Yeah, it's crazy how bad goaltending can make any game look like a bad game.

This game ends 1-0 with the exact same plays and people would say we dominated them and it should have been 5-0.

If I told you before the game that:

Leafs would outshoot Boston 36-24 total. 29-15 5v5 and had many more chances than them, nearly triple the high danger chances despite getting less powerplays - you would say it was a great game.

You then find out that the goalie lets in 4 goals on 23 shots and all of a sudden what would objectively be a good game now looks like a bad game.
After every humiliating playoff series loss (other than the Panthers series), people like you come in and point out a whole bunch of stats that show that the leafs were "better on paper". It's always the same old story and I'm f***ing sick of it.

What you call a "goaltending difference" I call a lack of killer instinct and finish. And it happens every freaking playoffs.

Frame your stat sheet and hang it on the wall and pretend the leafs won the cup this year.

Why even bother watching when you have already decided the outcome every season?

A team that lacks everything you said will never find it. Stop watching and stop complaining about it - you’ll probably be happier for it.

haha... honestly, I think TOR was dumb/needlessly anxious/too obsessed with hitting and being tough.

BOS took advantage of what they gave them. The first goal was on a two-on-one that really shouldn't have happened.

Then a goal on a shot that perhaps should have been stopped.

Then two PP goals on stupid and pointless penalties.

Then an EN goal.

BOS' goaltending was better (no surprise there). TOR needs to cut down on the mistakes and needs their stars to put some damn goals on the board. BOS isn't anything great. If TOR can't put these losers in their place, another team will do it without too much difficulty.
yeah I hate the we're-tough-now shit, Boston played right through it. and we were lucky to not hand them a few more PPs in the 1st.

Sucks the Leafs were undisciplined with their sticks and the eagle eye refs caught every one of their infractions including some from the other side of the rink.

Unfortunately for the Leafs Boston never got careless with their sticks.

Meanwhile in Boston where the referees should be watching the player with the puck somehow missed this:

I get the Leafs could have found something in the pre scout. But your 69 goal scorer is trying to make passes for back door tape ins on the PP. He really did shoot the puck much on the PP. This teams needs to move the puck quicker. Carlo on the 4 in 3 just followed Mitch around with his stick 2 ft from him and Mitch just skates around and around. Get that puck moving and get the goalie moving.

And when Boston signed Ullmark there were HUGE questions about how smart a move that was, considering Ullmark's numbers before then were terrible. Boston was gambling on Ullmark's numbers being ruined by a terrible Buffalo team, but they got lucky.

Also, the Leafs weren't looking for an Ullmark at the time; they liked how Campbell looked in the short season and were looking for a 1-A to pair with him. I would imagine they would have went stronger after some of the higher ranked starters if they knew then that Campbell would fall apart.
Ullmarks numbers in Buffalo were pretty good considering what he was playing in front of. His GAA was high 2s but save percentage was 912 for the 3 years he played a decent amount of game.

Maybe tell Brad to build a team for 2024, not one for the 1990's. He needs to get good players not just physical players
Really, you’re putting this in Tre. What about Dubas changing up the surrounding players for the last 5 years with no success.
This fiasco is all about the way the team is constructed with the core players.

I'm not even mad. We're just not a playoff team.

Not going to change until (if) our cap structure frees up.

Considering Nylander is always at practice and optional skates and even putting in extra time for him to not even be on the ice means something’s up.
