When was the last time a contending team traded for a #1 goalie at the TDL?
Gotta be never for a team that won the Cup.

The Habs called up Ken Dryden in March 1971, upset the best team in NHL regular season history up to that point (huge Bruins choke job) and won the Cup. The Pens struck similar gold in 2016 with late-season call-up Matt Murray. We need something like that.

Freddy is cooked!!!Done!!! Confidence is shot. Shakey on every shot. And he is not scrappy enough to barrel out of this. Oh to have Ed Belfour back. If Campbell wins tonight, run with him. He has the makeup to fight. Freddy seems like he is on Prozac.

I know freddy is the talk right now but we have issues with the way this team gives up the puck. Check for your self. It’s not pretty and Morgan Rielly is a scourge at it. We have more players with 20 or more on the season than all of the North division. Just f**** sayin.
Check for yourself https://morehockeystats.com/teams/givetake

I like the site, thx for providing it. Of note, and not suggesting this as an excuse, but While we're doing badly vs the other divisions, we are the best in our division. A product of the style of play?

On March 3, 2012 Burke said his famous quote: "It was like an 18-wheeler going right off a cliff" after the leafs went 1-9-1

Today we're three losses away from repeating it, in a 56 game season.

Nothing to worry about.

In before that moron simmons tweets/writes about it.

No, but I never did. Even when off to the hot start. No guts.

If you look back at the past 7 games, we deserved to win 6 of them. The only game we deserved to lose was the 3rd against Winnipeg. Add 5 games to our win column and subtract five from our loss and we're sitting 24-5-2 and sitting in first place overall with 50 points.

Our goaltending has screwed us. Even average goaltending sees us wrestling with Tampa, Wash, LV and the Canes for the overall lead in the league.

It's not the lack of guts that's gutting us, it's the play between the pipes.

I agree with you on the current swoon. I was addressing when it comes playoff time. Things get tight and physical. And the core just does not like that type of game.

The overreaction in this thread is staggering.

Yes; he’s on a bad stretch. No, a .900 Save% isn’t great, but it’s not the end of the world in a small sample size where his GAA is still under 3.

He’s an inconsistent, middle of the pack goalie capable of going hot and cold. It’s way too early to write him off as dumpster fire just yet.

Nah, we've had 4.5 seasons to see that he cant perform when the pressure is on.

He’s slashed a .915 / 2.75 over the past 5 years.

I really don’t get what people expect from goaltenders in the NHL, it’s just really hard to win Stanley Cups and it’s about a lot more than goaltending.

You can say all the goalies who haven’t won cups in the past 5 years haven’t performed when the pressure is on.

Also, the pressure isn’t on right now, Leafs could chunk another few games before it gets super serious.

He literally stops 2 extra shots tonight and the narrative is wildly different, that’s how fickle it is. I’m not a Freddie fan per say, and I hope Campbell does prove himself and take over long term, but Andersen is not our main problem unless this keeps up. He was fine last playoffs, he gave us a chance to win, as he likely will again.

He was .936 / sub 2 GAA last playoffs with a defensive unit everyone agrees was shaky. I don’t know how you can possibly ask for more than that.

Just my 2 cents of course, but my perspective is that all you can ask for from your goalie is a shot to win, and outside of a few admittedly bad games in the past week or so, he’s consistently given the Leafs a shot at winning, even if he does have his quirks like soft first goals for whatever reason.

Last two seasons he ranks 21 of 27 goalies with 50 games played in SV% at .906

Thats not good enough

This is delusional and I can't figure out why you even want to go for it. His numbers are bad and he looks bad. Why don't you want to admit it?

he's been like this since middle of last season so

Didn't see the game. See comments about Andy's play which sucks and is concerning.

Still, concerned they come out with a loss after a 5-day break where they lost on a back to back.

Thankfully they put themselves in a position in the standings that they have time to figure it out but consider me a bit worried that the fantastic start to the season was just a mirage.

We've chased him out of town once already.
And by the looks of it, they shouldn’t have.

He put up a .923 SV% on an awful Leafs team in 2013-14 and currently has a .918 SV% on an awful Red Wings roster. The Leafs would be running away with the division if we saw goaltending like that right now. Andersen’s .857 SV% over his last 7 games absolutely blew it for them.

Yeah not surprising to see the same suspects on here calling for a hangin' at city hall. 3 of the 4 goals most goalies dont stop, a screen, a tip and a puck off the ass of a defender.

The Leafs are doing a piss poor job of blocking shots from the point, they are doing a piss poor job of tying up the stick of the attacker in the slot and they are doing a piss poor job of keeping the opposing team out of the front of the net. Take care of these three things and all of a sudden Andy will look like a Veznia candidate.

The lack of hockey knowledge on this forum is staggering. Based on the comments on this forum I bet 50% of the people on here have never played a competitive game.

Mark my words Dubie is going to drop his pants and take it in a trade, he knows this season is our best chance to make it to the final four, watch him trade a boatload of youth and picks for aging one year rentals.
