Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 4-3

No complaints

They didn't deserve to win and only really put in an effort for the last 6-7 minutes

Hopefully the time off gives them a reset and they perform better than they have for the last few games

Everybody needs to be better

I’m not sure how many times we have worn the these jersey in last while - but I do remember someone dying in pregame when we wore these - I was there that night. Few years back.

After this debacle tonight on top of that - please don’t wear these again.

Negative. Its a nice touch to their roots. I'm glad they do it. Although the numbers could use some work.

How confident would you be come playoffs if they finished first by 20+?

Man.... that is a great question. All depends on the matchups. Total cop out of an answer?
But, if they finish 20+ ahead of second then honestly that means they pretty much won the season series vs all opponents and did not lose many games in the 2nd half of the season.
It would also mean that the inconsistencies we are seeing (in both the skaters and goaltenders) would be resolved. So, I guess I would expect them to win the divisional playoffs.

Should be expected anyway.
This team should easily own this division in the playoffs.
If not, there is something wrong.

I would have said the same thing 6 games ago, but this last stretch makes me question everything. You cannot win games on paper.
Need to see these clowns get their game together if they are to do what you (we) expect.

What a great start to the 2nd half... we are now tied with the jets for 1st in point percentage. Don't play Matthews until he can shoot the damn puck he was our saving grace up until this rough patch... we gotta away with him squeaking us wins in tight games we have or haven't deserved to win in the past. Tavares & Marner, especially Tavares, need to go wipe each other's asses with their 11m dollars each & take a look in the mirror. Thank god for Hyman. Not so much this specific game but definitely in this shit stretch, the refs must love watching the Leafs fall, they can f*** off and do their jobs better too. Hutch pulled a hutch for us, I guess that was coming.

At least this team is good at getting or almost getting back into games in the dying minutes...

Team needs to wake up and get back to where they were, they've taken a big step back. Hopefully some rest & reset, Simmonds, Soupie & a Matthews wrist return can get them back on track. Gotta stop the bleeding hopefully Soupie is the bandaid this team needs.

The good in this is the team gets a better evaluation of themselves and their weaknesses, upper management (DUBAS) included.

Seems like marner is fallen back to earth since matthews injury. Interesting to see who is helping who there?

Time for AM/WN reunited and JT/MM. JT is honestly a very bad contract and he is not even close to being worth that money. He is fallen off a cliff. Put him back with marner so that they can hopefully click again against the 2nd line.

Before anyone blames Hutch for the L, he has played very well so far this season. He is allowed a bad game since he hasn’t played in a while and the team as a whole were not helping him out and even Freddie with the sub par D. They left the goalies out to dry tonight. I don’t even blame Andersen

All is not lost.

Jack hopefully comes back and takes some of the pressure off the goalie situation.

Simmonds is coming back very soon. Robertson and Sandin are going to be healthy soon and maybe crack the lineup. Another top 6 F will be acquired - I'm fairly sure of that.

who do you think will be the top 6 F?

Should have sent Brodie or Muzz in for the final shift as Mo was clearly bagged at that point. A fresh Rielly isn't a major upgrade over them and a bagged one certainly isn't, he could hardly skate out there towards the end he look like was nearing the end of a bag skate. Tavares looked like it too but maybe that's partially because he's just slow.

In typical fashion stretching back a few years now, you have to wonder and question where the team’s energy and sense of urgency was the rest of the game in the same way they had the last few minutes of the game when down.

Games like tonight happen. It just sucks it takes them 50+ minutes when it is too little, too late, to get going.

The Leafs are going to miss the playoffs. I called a 10 game losing streak and now they have lost 5 of last 6.

If they do please come back and remind us that you said this and maybe let us in on your keen insight. Conversely, if they do make the playoffs, come back and say how wrong you were and don't know shit about hockey. Deal?

Hutchinson is human and will have bad games. But he's still getting blamed for the loss because it is absolutely on him. That people will have off-games doesn't mean they won't get criticized when they have those games. That'd be like not giving Matthews credit for being great because he's going to have great games.

I hope it turns around. Much like the excuses given during the Columbus series, expected results don't compare to actual results. Leafs have won 1 of their last 6 games and are below .500 in March. That's bad and they need to be better.

A Leafs' fan that hasn't lived through a losing streak isn't a Leafs' fan.

Its our rite of passage.

For all you pool stat watchers, Nylander was not credited a point on the 3rd goal according to Yahoo's Sunday night/weekly update.
