Post-Game Talk: Leafs Lose 4-3

I kind of liked Keefe pulling the goalie with six minutes to go.

They might have had a better chance if they had pulled the goalie to start the first period too.

The move was fine and a good gamble to try to salvage anything out of tonight. But 3/6 of the guys on the ice were awful and botched any chance we might have had at completing the comeback.

Some of you really need to find some happiness. It's just a game. Who cares? Players get tired and injured all the time. When you are at work, do you bring your A game every single shift? Nah. You tire out after a while.

Shit happens. Our team is still great. Move forward.

Harsh, but it does show Matthews is just on a different level then Marner as a player.
Here comes the pile on Nylander fanclub brigade.
Marner led the team with shot attempts and was pretty well tied with Matthew's at 64.55 in xgf% in All situations.
Willy on the other hand had a game breaking 33.73% xgf%.
But by all means, keep feeding the troll brigade.

Also Marner has fallen off in a pretty big way since the hot start. The laziness has crept back in.
Nylander has been fantastic though since the benching.
Pretty sure if he played fantastic his line would have managed more than 6 on ice shot attempts 5x5 in the whole game opposed to 17 on the m and m line. His line slept the whole fking game.

Well said. A bunch of f****** negative Nancy’s around here. Lighten up boys. Worst fans lol

Leafs are in a free fall again this team will never be a winner in my or your life time

I’m not sure how many times we have worn the these jersey in last while - but I do remember someone dying in pregame when we wore these - I was there that night. Few years back.

After this debacle tonight on top of that - please don’t wear these again.
ummmm........what?!?

Last night I died
Last night I cried
Last night the Leafs were exposed in the worst way
And then I died

Last night I cried
Because the Leafs died
The possession stats were sublime
But Toronto was left sucking on a lime
Last night I died

Last night 2 points were awarded to The Sens
And then I died
I thought I already cried
Because the season seems to have taken a turn
The Leafs might burn
The Trade Deadline is coming
They better trade for something something
Last night I died

This is not a cup contender. Looks like the old entitlement club might be back.

The window for this team to win a cup is GONE!!!. Signing 91 is now looking like disaster. Wonder why Lou really did get outa town. And trade 44 . Braindead. Best D man right now are Holl and Brodie.

Which is pretty sad. Cant just rely on 2 guys... but yeah Reilley and Tavaras have been really disappointing lately as well as Marner.

Also our 2 best players Andersen and Matthews still hurt doesn't help either... maybe the break will help

Burke on his way to Pittsburgh: “Hey Kyle, do you want the keys to my 18 wheeler? I can’t take it across the border.”

Kyle: “Gee thanks Burkie! That’s swell!”

Not even sure how to feel today about this team. The only thing I'm actually mad about after last night's game is once again the reffing. The call on Hyman because Tkachuk ran our goalie is ridiculous and they scored of course on their PP. Might have been the game decider.

Don’t use up all the best excuses for a random game against one of the worst teams in the league.

Save them good excuses for playoffs.

If only the Leafs worked as hard as everyone defending them.
We lost to Ottawa. Sucks. Lucky it was regular season. Better fix that before playoffs because failure in a division we should own even with average goaltending and Jim Vesey ain’t gonna cut it for the core.

Before anyone blames Hutch for the L, he has played very well so far this season. He is allowed a bad game since he hasn’t played in a while and the team as a whole were not helping him out and even Freddie with the sub par D. They left the goalies out to dry tonight. I don’t even blame Andersen

I have noticed over the years goalies NEVER blame other goalies, always find excuses. Mclennan does it all the time on TV and radio. Must be a union thing:nod: In actuality Hutch was really bad last night, he as a pro must be much better, he failed badly and I would suspect that maybe the last time he ever plays an NHL game which is a sad way to go out.

This break is coming at the right time
Rest, re-set, perhaps make a lineup change or 2, or maybe even a trade

keefe said Saturday after the loss is he’s restricted on line up changes due to the cap. Makes me think he wants to make changes but can’t.

Rest will help but I still do not think much of our bottom 6. You get what you pay for I guess.
This is what bothers me.
At the end of last season Shanahan with Dubas said this team needs to adopt a championship mentality. Starting in the regular season, nit the playoffs.

So you already had a Nylander benching earlier this season, Marner going through stints where he’d rather chew his mouthguard, Tavares in coma mode and Rielly lost at times.

It’s 56 games. 56 not 82. That’s even less acceptable. In a never going get a better division than this one. No Boston, no Tampa.

Bottom 6 players change for many championship teams when the core is strong.

What’s going to happen is a Sutter renaissance Calgary is going to take you by surprise come playoff time while the core is trying to smell their greatness.

They need to get it together and have a focused return of getting into the habit of doing all the things right every night leading to the playoffs.
